Works as expected: a good middle ground between Nespresso and the Breville Barista Express.

The machine works about as expected. With a bit of tinkering, it makes a nice cup of coffee and a reasonably good shot of espresso. I "downgraded" from a Breville Barista Express to the Carina 1200 because, as good as the shots from my Breville were (when I had all of the variables properly dialed in, that is), I decided I didn't want to go through all of the prep work every morning. In short, laziness won out. I still kind of miss the Breville, but this is working well so far!Read full review...

Love it!

very easy to use and makes great coffee. I have this in my office where I don't have the space or cleaning supplies to have a traditional espresso machine. This works great! Just add water and the whole coffee beans and you're good to go. The only cleaning is sporadically draining the drip pan and throwing away the coffee residues. The internals are very easy to clean take out and clean as well.Read full review...

Great and versatile product, good individualy adjusted cup of Joe

These are great machines, I have owned Phillips expresso machines for over 25 years and have had diferent models. Although this is the entry level version it is every bit as good as the more expensive ones. the milk carafe option on other models is great for those that want a great tasting capuccino with very little effort. I have these at the ofice, at work and at home.

If you are drip coffe die hard you may not like the bolder flavour.

For those that enjoy a short or long expresso, a capuccino they are wonderful you can easly adjust the water and coffee ammount of each cup to make a truly individual cup of Joe.

Great foam very user fiendly steam paranelo spout.

Pleased, highly

Very happy, quick to heat, versatility - coffee, espresso, hot water, milk frothing for hot chocolate, cappuccino etc. Easy to use, my 6yo makes own tea now. Money well spent. I do just one maybe 2 cups Americano daily, perfect, beats the French press in terms of convenience hands down. SCG was great answering questions prior to purchasing Read full review...

Easy to use and delicious

I’m satisfied with my Philips Carina 1200 purchase. I used to own a manual espresso machine and it takes so much time prepping it and cleaning it after each use. With this Philips Carina 1200, I wake up in the morning, push a button and my espresso comes out delicious, I only need to empty over fill and clean once a week.Read full review...

Great automatic machine!

Great super automatic espresso machine for the money. Even at full price, this is better than others I’ve used. I have one at home and one at the office. Put in beans and water and push buttons. Couldn’t be easier. Perfect every time.Read full review...

REFURBISHED PHILLIPS CARINA JUST AS GOOD AS A JURA!

Refurbished Phillips Carina 1200 works as good as new. Perfect coffee and espresso. Will save money on coffee beans because you’ll only grind what you need for each serving. Works as good as my friend’s Jura that cost nearly $2K. Read full review...

Okay, I'm Awake Now, thanks to this Auto-espresso maker!

This was purchased to replace a Krupps Espresso machine. There was nothing functionally wrong with the Krupps, other than it being manual.

This automatic machine from Philips is fantastic. The ease of use has made the morning grind just a matter of pressing a few buttons, instead of grinding fresh bean, loading the espresso, and then the cleanup afterwards.

My morning cup is a simple routine now, and I'm not wasting as much water every day cleaning up the manual system, and all the coffee dust that used to accumulate everywhere.

This machine is a welcome relief, occupies a small footprint, and really could not be easier to use and maintain.

Because we use distilled water I didn't purchase the filter add-on, nor will I have to concern myself with scale build up over time. If you will be using tap water it is probably a good idea to use the filter.

If you are looking for a fully automatic process that makes espresso and cups of coffee at the touch of a few buttons you have found it!

Excellent Value

No regrets. Small profile, attractive design, and exceptional value.

Wish it didn't have a panarello but I'm learning ways around that.

Wish I could adjust temperature higher than the max setting.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a perfect entry into superautomatic, this is hard to beat.
