You get a great value for a great price

I recommend this camera for the beginner or intermediate camera users. The C-450ZOOM lets users capture the moment without getting bogged down in the minutiae of the shot. With the four megapixel resolution and image optimisation functions such as TruePic and Pixel Mapping, the camera produces high quality images with impressive detail and colour - even when printed in sizes above A4. Blown up sections retain their clarity as well. But it's not just the pixels that make the picture. The precision lens has also been constructed to meet the high quality requirements of digital capture. Its 3x zoom power is great for getting a closer look. By activating the 4x digital zoom, the photographer is able to move in even more - when combined with the optical zoom, a maximum magnification of 12x is possible. For subjects nearer to hand, the camera's macro mode can focus on objects just 20cm away.

With the full automatic programme setting, the user is quick on the draw. Also very convenient are the four scene programmes, which allow portraits, self-portraits, landscapes and night scenes to be captured with little effort. For clear images when using the night-scene mode, the camera engages the noise reduction function.

The built-in flash fires automatically under low light conditions. In addition, the user can also activate specific flash modes, such as red-eye-reduction.

To capture life-like colours, the C-450ZOOM offers an intelligent auto white balance system. The more creative snapper will also enjoy experimenting with the four preset options for different conditions: daylight, overcast, tungsten and fluorescent light.

Besides the optical viewfinder, the camera's large, 1.8 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of around 85,000 pixels enables effortless framing and the multi-language menu further facilitates operation.

Olympus has equipped the C-450ZOOM with a number of special functions. For example, photos can be changed to sepia or black and white to add more atmosphere to the shots. A convenient resizing option allows the reduction of the data's file size. The image rotation feature is particularly useful when viewing photos originally taken in the portrait format on a TV. Interesting creative avenues are opened up with the movie function which records 15 frame-per-second movie clips in the QuickTime Motion-JPEG format. Panorama and 2-in-1 shooting are also included.

Images are saved on the ultra-compact xD-Picture Card supplied with the camera.

The CAMEDIA C-450ZOOM supports the EXIF 2.2 standard as well as PRINT Image Matching II, enabling compatible printers to apply the saved data to produce optimised image printouts.

With the USB AutoConnect interface, images can be quickly and easily transferred to and from a computer. The Olympus CAMEDIA Master software included with the camera lets users process, edit and archive photos.

Combining four megapixel imaging with user-friendly operation at an attractive price, the C-450ZOOM is ideal for saving the moment with ease and is particularly suited for any newcomer to the world of digital imaging looking for excellent quality.

Fantastic ebay camera

I bought this camera over 8 years ago for two hundred and fourty eight pounds including the larger memory card.I have always had compliments on my photographs and used the camare for holidays and ebay mostly because it has great software for editing.I was burgled recently nad they took my camera and I reaaly had not thought about how attached I actually was to it. I did about 30 hours research into a replacement and found the Olympus Fe-5020 was a good replacement but it was one of those tiny hard little slippery cameras. After crying a little(yes really) I suddenly thought I will look on ebay and have an old identical replacement. once it had arrived I took some shots and it was just the same. Im over the moon. the picture quality and handle of this camera is great.Read full review...

Solid camera, good optics

After losing my faithful Olympus C-220 camera, I bought a new, cheap camera, and quickly discovered that optics are far more important than pixels. The 2MP images from the Olympus were much better than the 5MP images from the new bit of junk. So I went looking for another Olympus, and got the C-450 which is similar design to the C-220 but a bit newer, with 4MP images.

Things that I like:
Full sliding cover over the front, also acts as on/off switch
Optical viewfinder (LCD screens are hopeless in bright sunlight)
3x true optical zoom
Good sized LCD
Good choice of flash options
Multiple battery options (2xAA alkaline or NiMH, or CR-V3 lithium - disposable or rechargeable)

Since I already had a CR-V3 rechargeable & charger, this was a major factor

Downsides:
A bit bulky (actually thicker than the older C-220)
Uses XD cards, would prefer the now more universal SD

But best of all, takes excellent pictures!

the use of it.

everyone who is looking to buy a Digital Camera, you must know what you are using it for. Like if you are that type of people who really care about the size of the image that they get from the Camera, they must know what mega pixels they should go for. for e,g... I don't need a to capture a normal thing and it will be in BIG size in my PC AND in my memory card on the Camera, soo I have to go for a smaller pixels to make sure that I safe time by downloading things from my Camera, even in uploading too! but I have to make sure that the pixels is not too small like 1MP, soo I will go for 4MP, and I will call it.... the one! :DRead full review...

A great little camera

I wanted an easy to use camera for my mother i have already got the c460 zoom and this camera is very similar, its definately the one for her, she can actually take photos at last, it couldn't be simpler, it's also one of the very few still with a view finder - i would recommend it to anyone who is not very technically minded - it works more reliably with rechargeable aa size batteries normal batteries don't seem to last very long - overall superbRead full review...

Olympus C-450 Zoom Digital Camera

Owing to the fact that my old Olympus was starting to play up (I had had it for 15 years) I had had my moneys worth. So I wanted to stay with the same make. And as we live in a digital age thought it was about time I had a digital camera.

The C-450 zoom digital camera is easy to use, takes great photos and compact.
The instructions are written by a person and not a HIFI they are simply to follow.

most of all being digital I am saving a fortune on developing.
