Great inexpensive UV filter
I have had this light for about a week and a half and while the pond is not totally clear yet there has been a huge improvement from the former pea soup. The secret is to have sufficient water flow. The first week I used my old 3/4" hose but that was only turning over 1/3 of the pond per hour. I have now increased it to 1" hose and that made a huge difference fast. After 3 days i can almost see the fish at the bottom of the pond and hope it will be totally clear soon. Despite previous reviews I did not notice any problem with quality.Read full review...

Fire hazard!! Yes it works, does the job as far as not leaking and water clarity. However I had it in use for 6 months and just took it out to inspect it and see if it needed cleaning. I found the fixture and the inside of the glass tube where the lamp goes to have burn marks on it and the wires were melting together inside of the housing. Heat isn't the issue as it was never warm to the touch. The wiring is the improper gauge and the fixture has a poor grip in the bulb pins causing resistance. I ended up throwing it out and buying something that won't burn my house down trying to save $100.. I was honestly fine with the function until this. If I wanted to I could re wire it with a better quality fixture and it would be just fine.Read full review...

No more algae

Bulb went out recently so I ordered a new one. Took the unit apart to change the bulb and the screws inside the “dry” tube were extremely rusted and the wires inside were all tinged brown.
