Technically perfect... ergonomically challenged

Would be a 5-star rating but I also have a Mifi 7730L and the 8800L lost some "ergonomic" features that were in that model. Specifically the external SIM port (no need on the 7730L to remove the battery to insert/replace SIM card), covers for the TS9 antenna ports (7730L covers are attached so you don't have to find a "safe place" so as not to lose them like you do with the 8800L), separate USB Type-A port (7730L's Type C port can be used to tether to a router while the Type-A port can be used for external media or charging another device... no can do on 8800L).

With that said, in all other respects the 8800L is a faster, more capable device and a worthy upgrade/successor to the 7730L.

Has potential but DISAPPOINTING

I'm in a marginal signal area (confirmed by Verizon Tech support) (MiFi: -116 dBm) including hills and trees. So I upgraded from a very old Jetpack expecting to benefit from the new, superior technology, including access to more bands and aggregation. Hasn't worked out very well.

Problems:
1. During peak usage times (area must be also over subscribed), I only get slightly more data speeds than the old one (say 2 Mb/s vs 1). With each connected to ONE antenna, that might be increased (say 2 - 3 Mb/s vs 1-2).

2. I have trouble connecting household devices to the MiFi because the device name FREQUENTLY does NOT show up in the list. I have to rescan multiple times. It makes spouse VERY unhappy. Most times, but not always, it helps to bring the MiFi device close to the laptop/TV. I turned off the 5 Mhz band and at first, that seemed to fix the problem -- and then not. When listed, the wifi signal strength shows good, so a confusing problem.

3. And if I put my laptop to sleep and then wake it up, the connection, might first show and then immediately not just disconnect, but disappear.

4. The touchscreen usually requires multiple touches to register my selection.

Good items.

Nice screen and lots of information there or with the laptop 'connected'. Good battery life. Has the potential to get good speeds in various conditions, given the tech specs (covers most, if not all Verizon 4G bands) -- maybe I'll see better results somewhere else. During off-peak times, I've seen data rates up into the high teens (8 Mb/s - 18); maybe later at night, it's even better. Nice antenna inputs (2).

Fantastic technology if you have cellular coverage but need internet

The Jetpack works great most of the time - we are in a low-cellular coverage area, so it causes us some problems, but the product, when it is connected acts just like home internet!!! Highly recommend!!!Read full review...

Good performance, easy to setup.

Solid and consistent performance. Only negative is the battery must be installed at all times per manufacturer design, which is how all their hotspots work. I'm able to tether this to a router (it appears as an ethernet adapter) so it is even easier to use with existing hardware.

My neighborhood gets 2 bars of verizon and I'm getting 2 solid bars indoors with the addition of two proxicast mimo antennas. I'm getting consistent 15Mbps download which is perfectly fine for the backup video calls I need it for.

Really Improved My Internet Speeds

I don't understand cellular technology all that well, but I can tell you this. using this device for my hotspot instead of using my Samsung cell phone increased my download speed from 5 megabits per second downloads to over 30 megabits per second downloads. this was well worth the expense for this device and it works perfectly. I highly recommend it if you have limited internet options and are unhappy with your download speed of the mobile hotspot on your phone.Read full review...

I wish I bought the Jetpack along time ago..It's amazing!

I bought this for traveling across the United States and it has been amazing! I'm writing this review on my laptop because I have WIFI. It has worked everywhere that I have stopped and used it. From the Pacific North West to the Gulf Of Mexico. If I have poor cellular reception on my phone while i'm driving i simply turn on the Jetpack and have full wifi bars and can continue listening to my music or podcast. The uploading speed while checking my email and browsing online really surprised me its as fast if not faster then my service at home. I honestly wish I'd bought this a long time ago. Couldn't be happier with my Jetpack.Read full review...

Impressive performance

We had an older 4g hot spot and the throughput was about as good as tethering to a phone. This has 80Mbps down and 8-16Mbps up. Really fast and easy to use. The additional antenna connectors is a bonus if you are in need of a signal boost. Really nice unit.Read full review...

Awesome but flawed

This is a 5-star product when considered on its own. Great performer; excellent quality; superb usability. I LOVE mine!

But, I docked it 1 star because it "lost" 2 features when compared with its predecessor (Mifi 7730L).

The 7730L had the SIM port on the side so that SIMs could be removed/replaced without removing the battery. The 8800L requires the case to be opened and the battery removed to access the SIM card.

Also, the 7730L antenna port covers were attached to the body. The 8800L covers are NOT attached so they must be stored someplace safe (and memorable) or they're likely to be lost.

Newest Verizon mifi

I live in a rural area I had the 7730L myfi but this thing blows it out of the water. I used to get 8-10 Mb down and 3 up with it. Now, I’m getting like 10-25 down and 5-6 up. More bands means more speed! Best hotspot out there battery doesn’t even get that warm and lasts a long time. Still stays on when you wake up if you un plug it before bed! Still like 30-40 percent!

At a 75% discount from a new one, this is a good value for now.

It has significant screen damage, as advertised. Although the screen is still readable, the "Touch-Screen" functionality has be degraded. It takes a few touches in just the right place to activate the correct menu item.Read full review...
