Nice for fans, better for new listeners.

This is a decent collection of A.I.C's hits, which features songs from almost every album. The album starts off with the newly recorded "Get Born Again," a triumphant return for one of the coolest bands of the 90s. A very catchy, solid number. The demo version of "We Die Young" sounds mostly the same as the studio version, but without the echo effect on Layne's voice when he says the word 'hit.' As a result, you will find that the studio version sounds slightly better. "Man In The Box" is one of the classics from "Facelift." "Them Bones" is included, one of the greatest-sounding songs from "Dirt." "Iron Gland," the unlisted track from "Dirt" is here, though I have no idea why. It's just a bunch of noise, mostly. "Angry Chair" is one of the songs that Layne used to talk about his problems with substance abuse, as is the next track "Down in a Hole." "Rooster" is a nice one for the fans, as it is a previously unavailable live version of the classic. "Got Me Wrong" is nice, but I think there were better songs on the Unplugged album they could have selected. "No Excuses" is one of my favorites. It features nice drumming, great vocal harmony and is actually one of the first A.I.C. songs I heard, as it actually got airplay on mainstream radio. "I Stay Away" is cool, with the violins in it, but I wish they would have included "Rotten Apple" instead. I think it has a much cooler tone to it. "What the Hell Have I" is next, from "The Last Action Hero" soundtrack. Very cool, one of their best! "Grind," "Again" and "Would" finish this off, though I wish they'd have used the unplugged version of "Would." Overall, this is a nice addition for a fan's collection and is a great place to start for beginners. Highly recommended!Read full review...

Good Album

A great compilation of Alice in Chain's best music. The only thing it is really missing is a studio version of Rooster. If you are looking to get a good set of songs without buying the Music Bank box set, this is it.Read full review...

Great Album

Pretty great collection of all their best songs. A great buy if you don't own any of their other albums, but if you do, these songs should be on them.
