Noritz NR98-SV-NG Tankless Water Heater

This is a high quality tankless ... but should be aware of additional maintenance and hazards.

I owned this unit for 10 years and had it replaced in kind last year by a plumber who updated the installation to code (Ouch $$$$). If you buy this unit you should also buy the back wash valve set that allows you to acid clean the unit every year. This will greatly increase the life of the unit. My second unit failed during the 2021 freeze incident in Houston (freeze damage even though I drained the whole house system). This unit is freeze protected, but not if the power is off. My experience is that tankless hot water heaters are fine if you do all the work yourself. (installation, annual back wash, etc). However, if you use a plumber, they are not cost effective. Also, a tankless system will not work if the power is off.
