Wii U Gamepad Required, Wii Remotes not sufficient

While this may be obvious to some, you have to have a Wii U Gamepad (nearly as expensive as the console) in order to configure, setup and use the Wii U or get to the point of being able to play Wii games. Following that, you can use Wii remote controllers when playing Wii games but to get to the standard Wii environment you have to use the Wii U Gamepad. So be aware if you are trying to replace a Wii Console with Wii U Console, you will also need a Wii U gamepad and the power supply is also different.Read full review...

It was not bad but not good either

It’s fine works great had a bit of trouble setting the game up no gamepad charger and the sync button wasn’t on the gamepad so it was extremely difficult to connect the game pad on to the console

Worth the money. Get it now and star experiencing new ways to play.

I bought the Wii U cause I'm a fan of most Nintendo franchises such as Zelda, Smash, Mario, Pokemon and Metroid.
Even though right now the selection of games is small, several main games from Nintendo have been announced and from here the console can only get better.

I gave it 4 stars because as most people said, the menues take a little longer than usual to load, which I really don't mind at all, but I have to take into account when reviewing.
Nintendo has adressed this and the system issues will be fixed in 2 separate patches coming this fall and summer.

This console brings the unique experience of assymetric gameplay, better apreciated in Metroid Blast, one of the mini games in Nintendo Land (Included with the Deluxe version of the console).
Judging by this game, and others like the Pikmin Adventure or Zelda Quest I can say that the possiblities for multiplayer experiences in this console are great, allowing one player to use the TV as his own screen and the player with the Wii U Gamepad and entirely different screen. This lets players have their own view of the game world. Not sharing the same screen while in the same room can't be done with any other console.
We can all agree that for now there are no big games that utilize this, but of course Nintendo made the console with this in mind, and they will take full adventage of it.

Good potential, but most would be better off waiting

Overall, the Wii U seems like a system with great potential, but at the moment, it can be kinda boring.

There is practically no game selection, and there are probably less than 30 games available for the console. No good Nintendo ones besides Nintendo Land, and the rest are all just games you probably already have for your Xbox, or are just too childish for your taste.

The controller is much cooler than you would think. When first looking at the Wii U, I thought the controller was a bit ridiculous, and bulky, but once you hold it in your hands, it seems to be a perfect fit. It has many features, including a microphone, camera, plenty of buttons, and motion sensors, which should be plenty of fun in game to come.

The console itself works well. It loads quickly, has a beautiful display, simple menus, and doesn't make as much noise as the Wii did.

Like I said, I think the Wii U has great potential, however, I woudn't buy it unless you already have some Wii games to play on it (the main reason I bought it in the first place was because my Wii was broken). If you want a Wii U, I suggest waiting until some more games are released, and the price may even drop down a little.

Great console, great price

Nintendo has made an awesome new console, runs very quiet and produces some great gfx. The new tablet controller has a very nice screen and is surprisingly light and comfortable to hold. The off tv play alone is worth this type of controller. I got the new Wind Waker HD remake with my Wii U and let me tell you, it looks fantastic. I haven't seen a remake that has had an overhaul such as this in terms of graphics and added features. Nintendo's social network, Miiverse is another gem that the media does not give enough credit. All this console needs is some more software and it will be getting that within the next 6 months. Super Mario 3D World is a must have, DK Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, X, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8 and the new Zelda title will keep me busy for a long time.Read full review...

Isn't given enough credit. Better than the sales represent.

First thing I need to say is, the gamepad is not as ridiculously huge as it looks in the model picture. It's a little awkward at first but it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. The game selection is not the vast because of the lack of investment from other game companies. I just wish those companies would put time into this product and then it would be amazing. But of the few games that are out there for it, the Nintendo Wii U has amazing graphics and Nintendo always has fun and interesting games to play. The game pad makes games play a bit differently but it works and makes things more challenging. You can even play on the game pad while having the TV set to something else (this applies to most but not all games), as well as being able to use the gamepad as a TV remote, but sadly it only has about a 4 or 5 hour battery charge. If you would rather not use the gamepad because you dislike how awkward it may feel to you, you can get a Wii U Pro Controller and it will be just like a Xbox controller but it works like the Wii U Gamepad. With buying the Wii U, a Pro controller and a popular game that is probably like $60, it will cost only $10 more than the Xbox One system ALONE.Read full review...

A wonderful little underrated jewel

First, I'm reviewing this on the fact that this console is SEVERELY UNDERRATED! It's Nintendo's own fault this magnificent machine ended up the way it did. The graphics are good, the sound design is a real treat; music, sound effects and even menu sounds play just so deliciously good, and even with current technology (sound bars, surround systems, 4K TVs, it all works so amazingly good, it's baffling! Oh, and if you happen to have a micro SD you were using on Switch, and you happen to have an USB stick that can be used as a port for it, you can plug it into your Wii U, and you have a great external storage choice. I'm currently using the 400GB microSDXC UHS-I, and it's working perfectly. Honestly, I am appalled at myself for selling my original Wii U console to get me a Switch, HOWEVER, I am not regretting getting the Switch at all.
Now, like with everything, there are some bad things I have to point out. The Wii U starts up SUPER slowly, especially after you've downloaded a few games (and even more if you download them to the main console's memory), and the console AND GamePad themselves are so huge, they take up quite a lot of space. Sadly I no longer have the Wii U stand to place it vertically. And that brings me to the console I bought... Sadly, the LED lights don't work, so I'm not sure when it's on Spot Pass mode, or when there's a disk inside, or when it's on, or on standby, the GamePad has trouble detecting touch around one of the indentations it has on it, BUT let it be VERY CLEAR it all works as intended except for that part on the touch screen. Will need to have that fixed... Either way, don't pass up on the opportunity to get this console! Especially before the eShop closes!

Happy with purchase, get one while you can.

Console came in good condition with only light scratches on the main console, but that's to be expected with the glossy finish that it has.

I have had no problems getting my Wii and Wii U games to work, but the Wii remote doesn't seem to work as smoothly on the Wii U for some reason. I've tried swapping out the sensor bar but I am still having issues with the cursor jumping around on screen, so I'll stick to playing my Wii games on the main system since the controller responds much more smoothly on it.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and look forward to collecting games for the Wii U.

Ungodly slow for a modern system, constantly updates… small gaming library

I’m a Nintendo fan and love the console systems in the past, but the WII U bugs me. First off, when you get your system you must charge up the controller because all the set up menus are on the tiny controller screen. There is no to TV option when in setup mode, so if your screen controller ever breaks, your WII U settings will remain the same forever, or until you replace the controller.

Forever updates. I got it, charge controller, updated the system, (forever). Place one game in the system, (after the update) and it prompts me for an update. I was alright with this at first, but every time I stick in a game I have never played before, update. The system updates more than I play, (it may be a slight exaggeration but still an update whenever I play a new game, is very aggravating.)

The load times are ungodly slow for a modern system, My Wii loads faster than this thing, and if I was to compare it to another system I own, I would rate it as fast as my PS2 in load times, actually my PS2 boots faster.

In game plays loading, for Zombie U, is alright, except for when I resume a save game and return to an area, or after dying and returning to the area, it loads and I play, but the first door I open in the area, it loads again… but it’s fine after that. With the load times I will most likely die of old age before completing a game, (Again, it may be a slight exaggeration but still waiting sucks.)

The system itself seems well built, but the huge controller is lighter than I thought, and I am concern about its durability. I have a three year old and if she gets it once, I truly believe it will be done for.

The game selection is virtually nil, I have four games, and see no new ones one in the foreseeable future that I will be rushing out with blazing swords, trample the elderly and stomp the fates of evil to buy. The online shop has very little VC games compare to the Wii, and considering all the titles for the Wii, the online games for download should have been made compatible.

Overall, I’m disappointed in this release of a system. Do I plan to get rid of it? Probably not, because I am a Nintendo fan, but also I have small amount of hope one of the many, many, many updates this system preforms will fix my concerning issues, if not, I am hopeful of the homebrew community (please God somebody fix the loading) will release a HD loading feature to increase the speed of the games, the load times suck and seem to go on forever. I do enjoy playing the games I have, which are Zombie U, Mario, Nintendo Land and Ninja Gaiden.

Now if you are looking for a system with many games, then stay away for a bit, let Nintendo work out the kinks and quirks and release more titles, unless you want to play Wii games on it, then the library is huge. Me, I have a Wii with HD loader and prefer it to disc, (again my three year old is a bit destructive) If you are a Nintendo fan, you will already have the system, without rhyme or reason and will disregard most of what is written here.

If you are looking to play games with decent load times or at least a large gaming library, I’d recommend WII, or a Xbox 360. I don’t own a PS3 so I cannot compare it to the Wii u, but its game selection is much bigger than Wii u’s.

Wii U it's and underestimate game Console.

Awesome system, versatile, The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild looks impressive.
Tones of Wii games (Nintendo’s best-selling non-portable console to date) and also compatible game controllers. This console feature Nintendo's first system to support 1080p and it can be played without a TV, write in the handheld control. It's still selling pretty well on eBay. All in all a great system.Read full review...

Amazing!!!

The Wii U is a fascinating piece of equipment! I love how with the touch of one button I can go from playing on the big screen to playing on the Wii U game pad! Unfortunately the Wii U didn't get the third party support it was promised and that was its downfall but even then he Wii U has a great selection of games that are fun and over all entertaining! I'm glad I purchased mine since they are no longer in production from Nintendo. The way I see it this thing is the earlier testing phase of the Nintendo Switch! I love this thing regardless of what anyone has to say about it!!!Read full review...
