Get one while you can.

This is an amazing little lens for the money. It rivals the 24-70 f2.8 in quality and costs only a fraction of what the 24-70 costs. If you are not shoots weddings, shoot, even if you are, this lens would be a must have. I love it as a general purpose lens, the only caveat is that it won't focus on the cheaper cameras as your body must contain the focus drive motor in it for it to autofocus. Other than that, I love it. It is heavy.... Just a thought.Read full review...

Awesome Lens

This is a good lens. I have not had the opportunity to take too many photos with it. But the photos I have taken are great. I love this lens and I'm very pleased with it. It is a very heavy lens but it also an older lens with great optics and build quality. This lens I found with absolutely no issues. Its in perfect shape. No mold, dust, scratches or damaged of and kind in or the lens. Exterior is in beautiful shape. Eveything works like a charm and I'm very pleased with this purchase. Finding one of these without any defects is almost impossible. Will be looking forward to using in the future!!Read full review...

A deal!

This lens is an excellent complement to the much newer Nikon 16-35mm f4. As I have the Nikon 28-300mm which has terrible distortion, I considered several lenses in the mid-zoom range, and this one is a steal if found in excellent condition. It is soft at full aperture, but becomes outstanding one stop down, at par with the newer 24-70mm, for 1/6 of the price. This pro full frame lens has almost no distortion, no VR and works perfectly on a D800/D810.Read full review...

best semi secret deal ever

I have owned this lens for over 25 years. I finally sold mine to buy a mint nikon 28 to 70 2.8

The 28 to 70 sharp , versitile..and HUGE and Heavy. Simply too big for many events.

I ended up buying another one of these 35 to 70s. And I never find myself wishing I had 28mm over 35. Just step backward.

These lenses are durable light tack sharp , fast and a fantastic deal. Must have.

Excellent alternative to the newer, bigger and bolder

Lens is a lot smaller than the comparable 28-70mm ED IF which weighs a ton. Or the 24-70 AFS.

Images are sharp at 2.8. Macro options is amazing. The push pull zoom is fun and easy to adjust to... makes a great companion with my 70-200 f2.8 af ED IF lens.

Has a manual aperture ring for those who want compatibility with older film SLRs. At a large fraction of the price of newer Nikkor glass this lens is a steal. With todays post production apps it would be hard to notice a difference in sharpness between this and the new glass.

A great workhorse of a lens

Perhaps this has been my favorite "people" lens, and although I now have the newer 28-70 f/2.8, there's actually not all that much difference between them, at least optically. The 35-70 is of solid metal construction, something you seldom see nowdays. The barrel (containing the filter ring) rotates as the lens is focused, so using a polarizing filter may be difficult. Zoom is a "trombone" style push-pull action, similar to that of the earlier 80-200mm models. These lenses (both this and the 80-200 f/2.8 of the time) were designed with photojournalists in mind, who can take advantage of their speed and intuitive action. Neither the 35-70 or the later (and much more expensive) 28-70 are much to get excited about wide open, but at f/5.6 and down they are critically superb, generally providing prime lens quality throughout their range, except for moderate pincushion and barrel distortion at the focal extremes. The 35-70 f/2.8 is a largely ignored lens today, but this loss of populatity has made it an exceptional bargain, and with fine build quality to boot...Read full review...

A sharp and well built lens

A great lens that can deliver excellent image quality.
Some may complain about the weight and the smaller zoom range but this lens mounted on my D810 produces beautiful results.

Beast of a lens

Built like a tank, in a D700 will take pictures in the dark (well nearly) that are pin sharp. See The Angry Photographer and Ken Rockwell (just search using these terms). Thanks to both for their hard work and dedication.Read full review...

the heavy weight champion

This is an amazing lens. Sharp, fast, flawless. I tried it on my Nikon D7100 last week I took about 900 pictures on three days in a field trip. I liked Apperture priorify and it did great. I tried on Manual and S. Great in all modes.Read full review...
