Very high quality, but...

This camera has a very high build quality and feel. The shutter is very crisp, good viewfinder and slit image. However... if you use your left eye, the rewind lever gets into your face. The rewind lever HAS to be slightly opened to fire the shutter. If you close the rewind lever all the way in, it locks the shutter button. Actually it's a smart design, unless you use your left eye like I do...Read full review...

"As" Is Exacta Varex VX Camera

For the price I paid this was a good find. Wind lever & internal gearing as I suspected were jammed with corrosion & are not working. But this was bought for "display" only....and the camera body was in good cosmetic condition. Was able to attach another German lens , which looks much like an original looks. Very satisfied with this "display" piece. Read full review...

The best of a classic

The Fm2 is a true photographers camera. In this great age of digital, where so many functions on a current camera can control how the photographer can see and "manipulate" an image, the FM2 manages to bring out the pure talent in capturing light.
The FM2, through simple metering, allows the photographers to practice their craft with the basics of focus, shutter speed, aperture and a film's ISO.
Combine these elements with light and a moment and you'll see why the Nikon FM2 will give you everything you need to enjoy being a photographer.

Nikon FM2n 35mm Film Camera

This camera is amazing. A truly manual camera, the batteries only operate the metering system, so if your batteries die and you are out on a shoot, you can use a hand meter and the camera will continue to operate. The camera itself is well designed and sturdy. The body is a joy to hold and operate. It has a field of depth preview switch which is extremely handy if you'd like to preview what your image will look like. There is a self timer, for self-portraits and a hot shoe attachment for flash units with flash sync up to 1/250th of a second. It has an F-mount which takes the marvelous Nikkor lenses as well as many other lenses with an attachment to modify the mount. These lenses are pretty common and excellent in quality, so you are assured of getting them relatively inexpensively for what you are receiving. This camera, if cared for properly, should last you a very long time. It is suitable for beginners, professionals, students and just camera lovers alike; it is a camera that can easily grow with you to suit your needs. If you don't have any desire for automatic focus and truly enjoy using a manual camera or desire to learn one, I highly recommend the Nikon FM2n, you cannot go wrong.Read full review...

Incredibly happy with my purchase

Since I’ve purchased this fine camera I’ve gone through four film rolls. It’s incredibly well-serviced and I definitely expect to use it for many, many years to come. Even the self timing feature works really well.Read full review...

Great for my purposes, where light and focus settings are quite constant.

My second FM2N was purchased as a backup/spare. I use both units for aerial photography, and they seem to be ideal for that purpose if one doesn't want to spend the money required for larger format and/or digital options. The fact that this camera is basically an all manual machine, doesn't require batteries except for the light metering, and has decently high shutter speed (1/4000) suits my purposes well. At distances of typically 500' and more and shutter speeds of 1/2000 or 1/4000, features like autofocus and image stabilization aren't that important. The investment stayed low and the results continue to be consistently positive. I like them!Read full review...

Good film camera body for the price if you want to shoot film.

I bought this camera body to take pictures in film and as a backup camera.
I chose the FM2 because I already have several Nikon lenses that will work with this body.
This is a fully mechanical camera body (besides the exposure sensor) so shutter speed and aperture (on lens) are set manually and I don't need to worry about electronic failure.
Really love this for the price I got.

FM2N Great for all photographers!

The FM2n is one of Nikon's best cameras. I like it because it keeps me sharp. Newbies who use one will find that they can actually learn what shutter speed and and f/stops are. With all of today's high tech, high frills camera work out there we often find that photographers under age 30 or so have no idea what depth of field is. Add to that the fact that the camera is made almost entirely of metal and can take quite a bruising. I used mine to literally knock out a mugger on the streets of Lexington, KY about ten years ago (I did have the motor drive on which houses eight AA batteries). I still use that camera today. I've heard stories about it stopping a bullet from an AK47 before (although it is no longer functional).Read full review...

Top of the line Mechanical SLR

I’m not sure one really needs the 1/4000s shutter speed, but it’s nice if you’re trying to get a little more bokeh in a little brighter light. Allows you to shoot with the aperture open quite wise in bright light with a slow film. Also really sturdy. Construction is much more robust than my Yashica FX-3 that this replaced. It’s a real marvel that it’s full mechanical. Do you need it? maybe not. Could you get a cheaper one camera with similar capabilities? definitely... Will it improve bad photos? nooo lol. But if you like taking photos and like having a nice object, go for it :) I have no regrets~Read full review...

All around great Nikon mechanical manual film body

Everyone says great things about the FM2n. I have been putting off getting one since I already own an FE and FE2. Plus the prices for the FM2’s are not cheap. I never could understand what all the hype was about. I love my FE2 so I wasn’t sure how the FM2 could be any better.
Well, I recently purchased an FM2n and this camera is really nice. The fully manual camera body has grown on me. At first I didn’t think that I’d like the light meter (compared to the FE). I don’t mind it at all now that I’ve used it. It’s very simple to use. The FM2n also feels lighter than my FE’s, but I’m not positive. This might be because the top cover is titanium bs brass or chrome (so I hear, can’t confirm). It’s definitely not brass.
Anyway, this is an all around great choice. I wish I picked one up sooner.
