Bid a little over the top, but well worth it.

I think I went a little over the top in the bidding but no regret`s. The camera arrived very quickly and was well packed. I gave it a quick check over and every thing seeemed to work, I then ran a 400 film through in a weekend and the picture`s are fantastic, much better than my Nikon Digital but then a digital is never going to match a film camera for quality and my Nikon Digital cost more than 10 times as much. I only ever use my digital if I need the picture`s in a hurry other wise I am a 100% film guy. The only thing a digital hold`s over a film camera is convenience.
When you think that the F55 is at the lower end Of Nikon`s SLR range and the quality of picture`s it can produce in the right hand`s it makes you wonder why people will spend a lot more on a camera that will only produce the same quality or in most cases less quality, I think maybe, a touch of snobbery is involved.
I have seen this camera in photo shop`s going for more than twice what I paid and that is with just the standard 28-80mm len`s, I got the standard and a great 70-300mm lens with this, both in tip top condition.
I am a Captain with British Airway`s so fly all over the world, Tuesday I am flying to Melbourne Australia and I will certainly be taking this camera with me.Read full review...

Going back to having to think about each shot, not a bad thing.

Having gone digital several years ago, and digital is great, I still have a love of film cameras. This particular camera is really first class, in performance and condition. Dead easy to use, ideal for that special shot that you can take time to set up. No regrets about the purchase at all.Read full review...

The F55 is a cheep camera but gives very good results.

The Nikon F55 has replaced my faulty old F601.
The F55 was Nikon's entry level 35mm slr, don't be put of by this. The Camera body is light weight and compact and easy to handle. It is easy to use, the pop up flash comes up automatically in full auto mode. Modes and programs are easy to select and use.
I have put one roll of film through this camera all photos turned out well using a Sigma 70-210 uc zoom lens.

bargain film slr.perfect for beginners or advanced photographer alike.do not be put off by the plasticky construction,they are sturdier than they look.no real need to buy a manual,these cameras are pretty self-explanatory.a wealth of features,not often seen at these prices.do be aware,however,it's best to stick with original nikkor lenses,as they generally give the best results.Read full review...
