Way Past Its Service Date

I played this one on Samsung and Sprint.

Phone runs Android 4.1.2, but once it updates the installed apps it's slow as molasses. Most times it just freezes when you go to open the app. After some research, it appears to be a problem with a corrupt 4.1.2.

If not for that, it would be a great little phone...

This is a great smartphone for a new user

I just purchased this phone from Velocity wireless on Ebay as a new unused smartphone as a starter phone for my grandson. So far it has proved to be a great phone for the money, and the ease of use is making it simple for him to learn to operate a smartphone of this type. It does almost everything well and is just the right size for him. Battery life is the only complaint that I can give, although it will last all day if he is in school and he can plug it in at home. I am very happy with this purchaseRead full review...

great value, great phone, great features. A-

I was able to pick up a slightly used nexus s with a clean esn.
it works fantastic, and as far as features go, it's everything you'd expect from a google phone running the most recent build of android.
the interface is fantastic, the device is quick, and the overall experience is smooth and clean.

it took a little while to switch everything over and get everything installed, but now that it is, i am happier with this phone than my last one, and any phone prior.

the only real downside is the battery life, but considering how much the phone is actually doing at anyone moment, it's crazy to expect it to last TOO long.

I run facebook, twitter, foursquare, and instagram constantly, and occasionally stream music using spotify.

i get a solid 7-8 hours.

if i needed it to last longer, i could easily decrease my usage and get better battery life, but considering how much i use it, battery life shouldn't be a large reason to mark it down to many steps.

Good phone for a good price. Mediocre battery life.

Though of course not as smooth and sleek (and touch-sensitive) as the iPhone, the Nexus S is a great phone, not least because my last phone was... not so great... (though also by Samsung). Why this phone is better than my last: it doesn't turn on randomly when I'm flying/traveling, it doesn't connect to the Internet randomly , the Internet is actually usable, easily. Why this phone is just okay: battery life, as always, it seems, is mediocre. I understand that using apps that use data eats up the battery, but I even when I don't use them actively, I can never go over 36 hours without charging it.Read full review...

Excellent phone, sensitive touchscreen, apps load fast and a mobile hotspot

Excellent phone, sensitive touchscreen, apps load fast and a mobile hotspot on your finger tip.I started with a Blackberry, moved on to the Palm Pre and now I bought this phone. It is hands down the best phone I've ever owned. The touchscreen is very sensitive, the phone is lightweight and slim, the screen is super bright and very colorful. I will be making a lot of comparisons to the Palm Pre, as that was the first touchscreen phone I had before this one.

It takes great pictures (with a flash or without), the front-facing camera and videos are a plus for me. Taking pictures on the Palm was very difficult. The camera was on the back and the button was on the front of the touch screen.

Texting is easier on this one with auto text, it was different than the autotext features I've used in the past. You can select the word, or keep typing as you were. It doesn't finish the word, forcing a backspace to correct and change it. The dictionary has a LOT of words, proper names and even those #$%& words that I use frequently. The suggested words come up in a space above your text message, so there's several to choose and it seems to "read" my mind when I typo horribly at times.

The number of free apps available on Android is crazy - the Palm was missing out on those. The keyboard works with the phone vertically or horizontally, depending if you have big or small thumbs :) The lag time on the Palm for the phone to "flip" from horizontal to vertical was noticeable and annoying. This one responds immediately.

I don't personally use my phone for MP3s as I use Pandora (a free app available on Android Market). The Pandora app works well without interruption, as opposed to the Palm which seemed to experience a lot of freezing and/or lagging.

The phone is fast, responds immediately when an app is opened and so far I haven't had it freeze up on me. Loading my contacts was easy with a Gmail account. Login to Gmail, sync account and voila. It took a few seconds and all of my contacts with phone numbers/email addresses were loaded. I also use it with 2 Hotmail accounts. On the Palm, I continually had errors for incorrect password (it was stored in the phone and it was correct) or SSL certificate errors, etc. randomly through the day. I haven't had a single issue with this phone and email synching.

I'm sure there are 100 other reasons to love this phone, but I'm extremely happy I bought it. I already see so many features that it has over the Palm or Blackberry and I know I made the right choice.

I will say, it's for the technology savvy person. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who hates computers and isn't into technology at all. I think it would be too much for someone like that. For me, I love gadgety goodness and I never read instructions for electronics, I prefer to figure things out myself. This phone was very easy to figure out.

Great phone, don't plan on using it for downloading or GPS.

This phone works very well for it's primary functions. It's great to have a developer phone which is constantly updated by the community. The built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) device is great, and using my phone as a form of payment is a neat party trick.

However, the GPS device is terrible. Unless I'm outside in a field I don't get a lock, therefore it sometimes tells me that I'm hundreds of meters away from where I actually am. Also the data signal is fairly weak. Sitting right next to an HTC Evo on the same network I get about half the speed.

Pretty cool phone.

I wanted a phone I could use in case my EVO wouldn't work anymore. It's about two years old now.I still have a year to go until I'm ready for an upgrade. So I got a Samsung Google Nexus. This phone is pretty cool. It's very easy to use.It does almost everything my EVO does. The only two drawbacks are you can't put your own ringtones on it.And the other is the volume. Its not nearly as loud as my EVO.But all in all,its a pretty cool phone.Read full review...

Good older phone, best part its not an IPHONE!! Just say NO! to apples B.S.

I have had a few of these phones mainly because of their ease of use. But beware if your as rough on phones as I am it will quickly be added to your cell phone junkyard because the screen breaks easily. Like in your pocket easy. The battery life is my only complaint. It goes quick so if you have a few broken nexus phones like i do then you will have extra batteries! bamm problem solved! This review probably will never be read because the phone is out dated. But if your reading this then your an old guy like me that doesnt want to fork out money for a newer phone or absolutely refuses to conform to all the other sheep and buy an IPhone.Read full review...

Activation of this with FreedomPOP was easy and pain free.
Runs Android 4.2 relatively smoothly.
Supports all new Andriod apps I have tried recently
Call Quality on FreedomPOP was Good (great if you consider its free)
Storage Capacity is quite good even by today's standard.
Camera show its age remember the tech in this phone is 4 years old.

Samsung and Google Deliver A Great Smart Phone

The Nexus S 4G has been pretty much everything I have wanted in a smart phone. The weight and fit in my hand is great. Could not be better. The screen is vibrant, showing crisp clear images. Sometimes it takes a bit for certain images to fully show on the unit but that may simply be because of very high res.

The keyboard is very responsive for the most part. Sometimes the spacebar key takes a couple taps, but that may be because I don't hit it exactly right the first time. Very pleased with the voice commands. They seem to be working well.

A major benefit was not having a whole lot of extra apps arriving preinstalled. That alleviates the annoyance of having to get rid of them or, in some cases, live with them as they cannot be deleted and allows me to pick and choose exactly what I want. Freedom of choice!

I have read reviews about people having bad phone reception. I have not experienced that issue. It has been as good or better than any previous phones I have owned.

My only complaint is Google Wallet. When I first got the phone it actually drained a whole lot of battery power. There is no way to delete the app. I can force stop it, but it just comes back to a running app. After force stopping it 2 or 3 times it quit eating any juice, so that was fine.

I was looking at the HTC and the Samsung Galaxy but for the price I don't think this Samsung Google product can be beat unless there are additional features needed that this device does not offer.

The perfect mix of price and performance.

It's a great phone, though the battery life is disappointing. It starts up quickly, has plenty of storage space, and is almost never slow, though mine does freeze every now and then which I account to me having bought it used. Web pages load quickly, and most importantly it is the cheapest phone that can use Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwhich) at the time of writing. Well worth what I paid.Read full review...
