Nexus 4 is still a great phone - By a proud owner

Though the nexus 5 have taken the limelight, the nexus 4 is still a really great phone in all aspects. I am a great fan of android irrespective of the few issues that it currently has.

As a recent owner of nexus 4 and that I have used multiple android phones in the past (including nexus 5), Let me give you my honest opinion as is to help you purchase your next phone.

First of all, Nexus 4 has all the features that I need to use it as a daily phone and the brand name as well.

With the latest android 4.4.3 update, I would say that the nexus 4 has taken a little hit on its battery life. But we cant's blame the phone as it is an issue with the OS. Hope Google fixes the battery drain in Android 4.5.

With a day of use including video calls for 2 hours and youtube streaming for 3 hours, the phone works great for 12 to 13 hours. You might get more battery life if you use lightly.

Call quality and speaker are excellent. The camera is 8 MP and it does what it can do the best. Its madness to expect DSLR quality pics from a 8 MP camera.

Display is good enough in size and resolution to watch videos and read ebooks without straining the eyes.

The processor and RAM is more than enough. I dont think any android app actually need this much RAM. I would say "RAM unused is RAM useless". So the phone has 2 GB of RAM which practically never runs out of space. So multitasking is carried out very easily by the phone.

One major problem that many users would complain about their phone is heating problem. A phone may get heated up because of two reasons.

a) If the phone has any hardware issues
b) If the OS/Software is not properly seated over the hardware (In other words, bugs in OS/Software)

Fortunately, there are no known issues in android OS that heats up the phone. And since its Google Nexus, you can trust that the hardware is defect free.

Summing up all my above points, I would recommend you to buy Nexus 4 if you match the below criteria

1) You are a big android fan
2) You love brand but not a brand freak
3) You realize that a newer version of nexus doesn't mean the older version is totally useless or out of date/fashion.
4) You know that there is really nothing big in difference between the Nexus 4 and 5 other than the 4G capability
5) In case, you didn't like a stock ROM, you always have Cyanogenmod to satisfy your needs.

Nexus 4 - The King of Android

The experienc of using an Nexus 4 is delightful. It almost perfectly addresses many flaws of the previous android devices an elevates the total android user experience to a completely different level.

The phone feels incredibly good in your hand and what striked me most is responsiveness to touch and speed. This ANDROID device has almost no screen lag at all!!To be precise the Nexus 4 does not suffer the screen lag that many other android devices were known for. The 768 x 1280 pixel 4.7 inch screen creates sharp, quality display interface for the user. Despite its high performance the phones battery life is high. The stand by time is approximately (2G)390h and the talk time about 15h(2G). The battery has the endurance to last about 30-32h.
The only minor complain I would have is to do with the quality of the camera. Its a very unnoticable and extremely minor issue which does not interfere at all with the overall user experience.

To finalize let me break down and rate each of its components.

Body - A+ 9.5/10
The phone feels good in the hand, its weightless and its delightfully easy in the hand.

Display A+ 9.5/10
The colours true and sharp. Videos and images look better than ever. The display size is perfect and does not strain the users eyes.

Sound -A 9/10
Call quality is really very impressive. Much clearer compared to other android devices. Tne speaker is placed at the back and is not the best device to listen to music on speaker.

Camera - A 9/10
The 8MP camera has a class of its own and has good picture quality in both bright and dark envioronments. The camera quality is not the VERY BEST but can be improved more.

Stand out feature - The phone is very fast, highly responsive to touch and shows almost no signs of screen lag at all.

Overall rating- A+

The prodcut has high value for the money spent. Its an absolute delight to use the NEXUS 4.

LG Nexus 4

The LG Nexus 4 provides a good quality cell phone communication. Very quick snapdragon processor and up to 4G data speeds. The Nexis 4 can still compete with most of the newer Android phones and I like a smaller phone. Nexis 4 with its 4.7 inch screen is just right.Read full review...

Great for the price

I was a little worried when I got it because I saw the Nexus 4 Red light of Death, but I think it’s cause the phone turned on en route to me and the battery drained. Once I got the battery charged, the phone is great. Installed Ubuntu touch on it no problem, and honestly, the phone feels a little better than the nexus 5. Only downside is that it doesn’t have 4GRead full review...

Excellent "big carrier" wifi hotspot device

This native android OS device is the perfect "work-around" for certain big cellular carriers restrictions on unlimited data lines wanting to implement wifi hotspots as well. The Google Nexus devices are the ONLY phones that natively mask your hotspot connections as simple phone data connections. You can do the math. It just works. Great phones anyway.Read full review...

More than I expected

Very good phone. I got it a month ago, and still haven´t found any weaknesses, faults o something really bad to this phone. Only 2 times have to reset the phone, caused by applications problems (or unexperience from me!). Everything runs smoothly.
I could connect via VPN (IPSec w/Xauth to Cisco ASA) to my work; I didn´t knew that Android could do that natively, without any apps, nor any extra license on ASA. Thats great for me!.
Good shots; good display, battery runs almost a day with Wifi and GPS turned on all time.
Good buy!

Nexus is a great smartphone-won't own any others.

Works great! Excellent phone/Wi-Fi device;easy to use, I use it to mirror cast Chrome browser content to my Chromecast device on my tv, and I couldn't be more pleased. Nexus rules, Galaxy drools.

Amazin smartphone, it'll be top for a long while.

Amazing smartphone, allows you to directly experience the world of Google. Beautiful at the sight, the display can give you an exellent resolution. The hardware won't lag easily, with the potential to run several apps, even games, even the hardest. Highly recommended, it feels that you'll get a long life technology (but this is business, and we don't know!).Read full review...

Pure android experince, cheap price, quility and perfomance is great!

This is google's flagship phone, and it's equipped with all the latest android features. This is my third nexus device and it just an awesome device. I like the display and the beautiful rear design. The price blows every phone out of the water. A must have for people that likes to tinker, but it's not a phone for everyone.Read full review...

New to me

This was accurately described. I had to grind away some of the bezel to make the power button work, to me that was acceptable given the warning. I'm running a nougat custom room.
