If you want netgear support don't buy "refurbished" routers

When I bought this "refurbished" product, it was not indicated that it will not come with a product serial number, thus will only have (if any) very limited tech support. Also there was no installation media. The seller did give a website to go to for product downloads. I had some problems with downloads so I called Netgear tech support. I'm very used to calling tech support when installing my home electronics, & to my surprise When I called Netgear they couldn't help me since I couldn't give them my product serial number. I ended up buying another product & keeping this router aside for now. I may use it as an extender later on. I may also use its gigabit lan ports later. I was able to use the 2.4 mhz & 5 mhz wireless with this router for 4 weeks but I seem to need to reset the router on intermittent basis due to loss of connection. So far I didn't need any reset since I replaced it with a Belkin 750 6 weeks ago.Read full review...

Netgear N600 WNDR3700

As usual Netgear delivers a really good item: if you had a router from this brand it's really difficult you will change.
The installation has been easy as usual, also if it takes always some time for me because I need to populate the access list, reserve network address and so on.
I must admit that the web interface is a bit slow (I've configured it offline thru wired network) but at the end the connection is rock solid also with the printer that gave me problems with the old WNR834v2.
Now I am waiting for the USB adapter dual band to check the full speed but I'm sure it will work perfectly.
In this moment it is giving connection to two laptops, one desktop, a wireless printer, a Wii, a Blackberry and an HTC, and it is also connected wired to a WDLive TV and an XBox.

Add-on
I received the USB wireless adapters, always from netgear, and the connection is fast and rock solid: I never had a disconnection.
I could see that my wife's new laptop, with it's original wireless adapter, had problems to hook up.
I have also added a new WD Live TV that I use in a room linked with wifi connection and I never had a problem. I have also added, as connection, a Kindle and a iPod.

Great upgrade!

I have been using an older NetGear wireless b/g router for several years. Recently I began to experience repeated dropping of service that would require resetting my cable modem and wireless router. Through some trial and error I discovered that I needed to replace my wireless router. C-net reviewed this router pretty high so I decided to purchase it and give it a try. Install was straight forward; I just followed the step-by-step guide on the supplied CD. My newer laptop is able to utilize the wireless n feature and my download speed has increased from 8mbps to 28mbps according to the speakeasy site. This is a great improvement which is drastically noticeable when streaming video (Netflix). My range was also increased as now I have excellent single strength throughout my entire house. That was not the case with my older router. I have not tried connecting a USB storage device to the router yet buy I plan on trying that out in the days ahead. I have been using this router for about a week now and have not experienced a single drop in service, my speed has increased and so has my range. If you are looking for a new router, I recommend giving this one a try.Read full review...

Netgear has an extremely user-friendly and functional unit in this one!

In a 1250 sqft, one-floor condo you wouldn't expect to run into serious signal strength issues, but the quality of signal this thing puts out is excellent or very very close at every corner of the place including the balcony with the door shut! This is way better than signal strengths issued by my FIOS factory unit.

It was a piece of cake to set up the Netgear, even without the start-up CD (since mine is a refurb unit). I operate a desktop via a wired connection and a laptop via wireless and both computers enjoy internet speeds at or above my advertised cable rate.

The USB accessory port is really nice because I can print wirelessly from my laptop using the printer connected through USB on the router.

I've only had experience with this router and the one Verizon sent me for my previous Fios service and both speed and signal strength are FAR better on this Netgear! Combine that with the ease-of-use and setup procedures associated with this Netgear unit and you just can't go wrong!!

Highly recommended

I bought the first WNDR3700 and installed it in my home automation central distribution panel with a 1 TB GreenDrive NAS. Everything works great! Easy setup, easy access to NAS, good signal throughout house. When I needed a second one for another location, it was an easy choice. One caveat... wireless bridge mode (wireless to RJ-45) only works in WEP mode, which I refuse to use (so only 4 stars for features). BTW, bought these 'recertified' to save $$$, and very happy with both. Highly recommendedRead full review...

WNDR3700 Netgear Router

I had another one just like it. It had good range and didn't have to reset it. New one is good but not as good as the last one. But I would recommend it for a replacement. Both of them I bought used.

Very good router for games and for your home network. Recommended!

I bought this router after two of my friends recommended it to me, I was having problems with my old D-Link, playing in PS3 and browsing web too. This router looks sick! Have a bunch of options to configure, I can plug my external hard drive 1TB in it, and I have network drive ready to use by my PCs and other devices. Awesome feature! Signal is very strong, I got 100% signal in PS3 in the other room even having a brick wall between them. Other nice feature is the guest network, you can provide internet access to your guests without let them browse your private network. All in all it does what is suppose to do. It's a very good router to play online games and to admin your home network. I'm very happy with it!Read full review...

Excellent router.

Excellent router. Make sure you get the latest firmware. That will resolve any hic-cups on your network. I did modify this router to accept two 2.4GHz 7dBi RP-SMA OMNI-Directional Antennas and two U.FL to RP-SMA Female Adapters. Version 2 allows easy pop-off of the old internal antennas. Version 1 does not have this capability and I do not know if version 3 will accept this mod. It worked well with old antennas and superb with the new antennas. I gave it a 4/5 for reliability and performance due to the necessity of the firmware upgrade and the antenna mod. I would give it a 5/5 for the router now after the upgrade and mod. The USB port in the back makes it effortless to add a storage device for streaming or wireless backups.Read full review...

NetGear WNDR37000 Router

When I first got this router it had firmware issues which limited some functions..but it still worked ok...I followed a lot of threads on the NetGear forum and seen they issued a newer firmware to fix a lot of issues....

Now the router works great....so it goes to show NetGear listened to the people and fixed the problems..Thats good customer support....

I am very pleased with it now....money well spent....The setup is very easy and its explained what the settings do when you make them....
Now remember the range on Internal Antennea routers is not like the ones with external ones..BUT for the average household its fine....I get access any where in the house and outside to a point....but in a good way your not broadcasting to the nieghborhood so your providing Wi-Fi to them on your account...

Bottom line is buy one...worth the money

Worth the money.

This is definitely an improvement to the house. I was using a router that i paid the same amount as this one from a store and their is such a big difference. I pay for 100 MB from my provider, the only time that i would get close to that with the old router from the store is being directly connected via Ethernet cord. Over wifi i was luck to hit over 25 MB.
With this router I am hitting a littler over 100MB Directly connected. Now over wifi I am hitting around 85-95 MB. This is totally worth it. With this router I will mention that the firmware on my device has been flashed to run DD-WRT, which I completely recommend. Due to the fact it has so many more options and way more control of your router.
Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase.
