Works well, with a few caveats

Connected and worked well on the same 120vac circuit within the house.
When then connected between the house and the shop, it works well AFTER figuring out the following:
Devices must be on the same side of the power transformer winding (same 120vac pole of the power feed- when measuring the AC power between the device receptacles, it must read 0vac, NOT 240vac).
And, GFCI breakers and receptacles interfere quite a bit and can make them inoperable (this is not mentioned in the documentation!).
We are going almost 275 ft. between buildings and can get a reliable 4 MBps speed between them. (with a GFCI receptacle on the same circuit, we got 28 Kbps).
It has been reliable, and we can stream video, copy files, etc.

Netgear Powerline 1200 MBPS

I think it is rediculus to ask in such a short time " How does your purchase function" . To my knowledge it takes some time to find out how reliable the product is. Admitted it is easy to install, it looks good from the outside but the functionality is only to be determined after several months. So, i'm not able after a couple of weeks to determine if the product is good. So far OK, but time will show the reliability. Is it a good product, it seems like but I don't know now. Performance the same answer.Read full review...

Easy to install, works as advertised.

Works as advertised. This particular pair flops between a very good and just good connection, but that's due to the path the signal has to take between the two units. The older Netgear Powerline units (which died after over 10 years) behaved the same way.

The old units had 4 network ports, but it appears that feature is no longer available. So I had to add a network switch on one end. Otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars.

Great internet connections through the house's power line.

I received this quickly in 3 days. I eagerly opened the package and found the merchandise in new good conditions. It came with simple instructions which took less than 5 minutes to set up. Most of the process is just plugging the units into AC outlets and plugging internet cables from the unit to the router and from another unit to the computer. I noticed very little speed loss. This beats running cables through the attic with the need of opening up holes in the sheetrock. My router is located in an upstairs bedroom while I wanted a wired connection in the family room which is located downstairs and in a different corner of the house. I am happy with this product. Cheaper than wiring your home

Wanted to get my game system hardwired with an ethernet cord. I talked to some cable installers and it wouldve been ugly and costly to install wiring from router to my game system as I have a finished basement.

This allowed me to use the existing electrical wiring in my house to transfer the ethernet connection with a minor cost in comparison and using a plug that was already free. I've had one minor connection problem since using it requiring me to unplug the device from the wall and plug it back in on the router side but its been great and seeing a much smoother experience while gaming plus a little piece of mind not going over the wifi with possible rubber banding.

A Great Investment in My Home Network

I ordered a total of four (4) Netgear Powerline 1200 adapters (PLA) to replace some older, slower PLA to match up with my new Netgear NightHawk R7300DST router. They are working very well with each other. I recommend these to anyone who wants to use their home wiring to network items around the house.

Very happy

I let this sit on my desk for over a week as I did not understand the technology on how the unit worked. Finally, with courage, I opened the product up, plugged it in did a reset and pushed the security button. Then ran, well okay walked down to another area of the house and connected to the other (you have two minutes) and repeated. Holy cow the lights came on. Next, I plugged in my Google Extender (excellent by the way) and waited. The orange light came on, not good. Panic began to set in for a bit. In my haste, I put the wrong plug in. The blue light came on. My phone, my tablet all hit max. Yeah, I'm the man.Read full review...

Top of its class

I have gone through many different brands and models of powerlines. The NetGear PL 1200-100PAS (this one) came to the top of all of them.

I have upgraded all my house with it. My Roku, Xbox, IPTV, and my wireless extender are all hooked to Netgear PL1200-100PAS.

I do have a gigabit switch in my basement where I host several servers (VMware) and the transfer speed is as close you can get to a gigabit. With the other brands I could barely get 400mbps.

If you are in the market for a powerline, this is highly recommended. Simple, easy, reliable, outperforms, and affordable.

Having a hard time setting it up.

I'm still trying to get the darned thing to work. I've got questions into the support site, no answers yet. It's doing things that are not covered by the instruction manual. The pick-a-plug LED is supposed to be solid green, solid amber, solid red or off. Mine is solid green at the router end and flashes back and forth red and green at the other unit. If Netgear Support would answer my emails, we might be able to work this out, but I haven't heard from them yet.Read full review...

Amazing

This is the next best thing to being directly connected to the modem, but in a different room. It's easy to set up, it literally takes no time and works wonders. Great for gaming!
