My title "Helped me overcome the "Why bother to get out of bed?" depression I had suffered with for years." is true. I had been on the big "P" prescription anti-depressant medicine for years (5-6 at least) and its' effectiveness had been declining. At the suggestion of a friend I bought my first box of SAM-e 400mg for $32 for a box of 30. If memory serves me, in less than two weeks I began to overcome my early morning blockade of defeatism at the days prospects. I am also calmer and don't get agitated in difficult situations. Instead I find I am able to soldier on and persevere. Originally I started on another brand (from a local whole foods coop) that was double the price of the NatureMade and had good results, but when the price went up to $1.50 a pill I started researching alternatives and found NatureMade SAM-e looked like it had had good results for its users so I bought a box. That was nearly three years ago. I am 60 years old and after taking more than 1,100 of the NatureMade 400 mg SAM-e's I can say it is still effective, and still my only daily dosage of any sort besides a banana and whole organic milk. I have taken this brand of Sam-e for years!

I have taken this off and on for years. When I run out, I can feel the difference. It affects my mood in a positive way, and it helps keep my joints comfortable. SAM-e has helped my joints, mood, even helps my exercise routine . . .

I sense SAM-e, combined with other bone, joint, and as a by product mood enhancement, are working. No, have not taken one, in lieu of the other, to test my hypothesis. Simply don't have time, or patience for that. To do so, I've found via health resources on the Internet. "Testing," could mean my taking months, in some cases years to "prove" they work best together, or one is better than another.

My main reason for SAM-e is joint comfort, which deteriorates with physical activity and age. SAM-e is supposed to be a source of sulfur, an important product of joint tissue.

I'm old as dirt, I'm 5'8", 147 pounds. Can't run anymore, spinal stenosis C's, T's, L's, skeletal, hip degeneration, and the like. Have had two of my lower L's operated on, helping relieve exquisitely acute buttock, thigh pain, left side. Waiting on my C's until I can't take it anymore. Anyhow, so walk at a quick pace, 90 minutes every other day. On alternate days 90 minutes plus of reasonably intense, free weight lifting, crunches (spine won't permit sit ups anymore), exercise resistance tubing, isometrics, which is static strength training. Don't knock isometrics, it works, check it out. Works for many people, who are impeded from doing other certain types of exercises. Just check with your PCP first! Many guys I know in their 30's, 40's can't do the isometrics I do. Free weights, my totals are down, I've grudgingly told myself, you're not 35 anymore, stupid. Along with other totals being down as well  Happens when you become an old guy like me.

All that said, I feel SAM-e and other bone, joint supplements have permitted me to do a decent amount of exercise. Even if my totals are not what they once were. Something is better than nothing . . .Read full review...

It is helping my sad face some!

We have a really sad situation with my granddaughter dying from a home birth (and irresponsible choices by the parents) along with more in this heartbreaking situation. I have been so sad about it all and was trying to help myself. I wasn't ready to run to the dr. and ask for an anti-depressant until I tried some self help first. I was reading on the internet that Sam-e was good for helping with depression and a better mood. So I tried it. It's not a huge difference, but I did notice when I ran out. I have used this brand, Nature Made, and another brand. I do think that this brand seems to be high quality and better than the other brand. I did go up to 400 mg a day. It's kinda expensive to go much higher than that, but I know you can.
It is also supposed to help your joints and I have bad knees. I am doing so much other stuff for my knees that I honestly don't know if this is helping or not.
I do plan on continuing to take it at the 400 mg dose. I started out at the 200 mg dose. It does not upset my stomach or make me sick. I take it in the morning with breakfast.

Overcome Depression With Sam-E! I Call them My Happy Pills!

My shrink recommended Sam-e to me years ago.I started taking Nature Made and was able to stop taking Anti depressants! My doctor also told me to get any "real" benefit from them I needed to take 1600 mg a day. That is 4 Double strength=400mg ea a day. May seem a bit costly but The benefits out weigh the costs! It takes awhile for Sam-E to build up in your body before you start feeling the effects. You MUST give it time to build up in your system! Oh Man when that feeling kicks in WOW I feel the difference!! The Gloom and doom disappears and I have actually found myself walking around feeling like whistling a tune!! Now that is normally not me! I have a tendency to be a procrastinator and dread everything I have to do in a day but taking Sam-E gives you a whole different outlook on your day! This has become the gold standard

This is a safe quality product. This has become the gold standard not sure if the others are not as quality or just because just received to be the gold standard this one works the best. But this one does work very safe blister Shield because it says Sammy doesn't like moisture so if you're having real issues you should start with this one until you're sure it is worked and then later on you can look to see if you could save money on the others if necessary.
