J J Cale-the unknown master

This artist has never got his deserved recognition, but lets talk about this CD. It was 1969 or '70, I first heard "After Midnight" on an AM radio station from Oklahoma City, and I was captivated. A blues song that caught my imagination! After college, I was then making money, I found the album at a record store and remembering his name, purchase it. That evening I must have replayed the album a dozen times. All the songs have a different tone and rythym, but all have a subtle quality that is the essential of "cool." J J Cale is the essence of "cool." This man set the tone of rock music for the '70s and '80s. You have to have his first recording if you like RR.Read full review...

J.J. Cale

Recorded in 1970, I've had this "albumn" on LP, 8-track, cassette and finally on CD. Cale wrote all the songs, the best known of which is probably "Call me the Breeze" which has been covered by a host of performers and was a hit for Lynrd Skynrd. I know the lyrics to every song on the recording and this is one of my top five, all time favorite recordings in any genre. Southern Rock that is almost gentle. Cale is also a gutarists' guitarist. and "Naturally" proves why.Read full review...

Long time listener to JJC

Have enjoyed this album for years. I actually have the original vinyl of this. I had transcribed it to tape and then later to CD. Just wanted to have a factory CD of it since public burned CDs can deteriorate over time. Didn't want to lose it. Read full review...

Cool foot tapping grooves.

JJ cale`s first album is a clasic. There is no other artist or style of music to compare Cale with. Some have made hits from his work Clapton "After Midnight, Cocaine" Skynyrd "Call me the Breeze" and various other artists have covered his songs. This word is used a lot but JJ cale`s music is "Cool" it has a groove and a light touch. The songs on Naturally will keep for foot tapping for quite awhile.Read full review...

If you know J.J.

You probably have to already know J.J. Cale to appreciate his music. A little different. Some where between modern folk and country. Its amazing what a great song writer he is and the lack of commercial recognition and sucess he has had. Its also amazing how many of his songs have become major hits for other artist. The songs are short, deep, and sweet. Laid back listening.Read full review...
