4 out of 5
So I wrote 4 out of 5 because, even though I get a consistent and very steady stream of AC Wifi, the stream is not at AC WIFI speeds. The max mbps is around 80. From my other Access point, I get about 120-160 mbps, and at the main wifi point, I'm getting upwards of about 200 mbps up and down stream. The point is, it is maxing out at 80 mbps up and down stream. Not anything over that. Like I said, I am thoroughly happy with the consistent data transfer and I think I have had only ONE buffer and that was during an ice and snow storm. My small complaint will never stop me for highly recommending this item for ease of use, easy setup, and wide coverage. Read full review

It works w/issues
I was NOT able to remote into the Netgear thru its IP address of 192.168.0.100 that was written on the back of it, i did a hard reset on it, still not able to log into it so that i can change the WiFi name and Password to my choice. It does work on its original SSID and Password but its NOT what i would like to use. When i go to command prompt and go to IPCONFIG the default gateway is BLANK ... very strange even after the hard reset. I tried a MacBook Pro and 2 windows laptops and NO luck. Even tried thru my smartphone but no luck either.
So right now its working under its original SSID and Password until i can get with Netgear to figure this out.Read full review

Small, basic, easy.
For a small, simple, basic router it works great. Two freqs. working at the same time is terrific. Just set it and let it go. Easy set up.

A-ok, would buy again
Just needed a good access point without a new router. Works great and has longer range than my previous one.
Haven't tried any ac devices but n devices work fine with it on the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz. Seems to be missing some of the 5ghz channels though.Read full review

Upgrade from 802.11n
Wanted to replace our 802.11n AP now that we have more WiFi devices. This is the first dual band AP we have used. Set both SSIDs and passwords the same so client devices choose which band to use. Good coverage throughout the house, basement and a couple of hundred feet outside. Because this is basically a stripped down home router it includes a 4-port Gig Ethernet switch. That is a useful feature for us as the AP location needs needs more Ethernet drops.
The only down side so far is you cannot set the NTP time server a local network server. I see no reason why an AP needs internet access for itself so used static IP setting and did not configure gateway or DNS (used dummy addresses). Because the AP does not support local NTP server this means the logs do not have timestamps. Unit does not support Telnet to do command line settings.
Not a fan of WPS so I disabled this feature. The instruction are not very clear so should clarify "I think I've disabled WPS."
I checked the FW version and it was down by one minor rev, the latest rev did not do anything I was interested in so did not bother updating the FW,
I'm powering the AP from a DIY DC UPS, current consumption is about 400 ma @12 volts. with two active Gig Ethernet ports.
All in all very happy with the purchase. Read full review

great 2nd point
I used this as a secondary point because my main router is in one corner of the house so this was hard wired to the opposite corner. No gap in 5g coverage

Great Netgear Access Point
This is a great wireless access point - dual band, easy to set up, and so far, so good. It's small, quiet, and consumes almost no power. I had only one very minor concern - I opened the enclosure, and found that the CPU was usually very hot. No big deal, I stuck a heat sink on it, and closed the box back up. All-in-all, a nice product, seems to be robust and reliable.Read full review

Good AP for extending WiFi range with a/b/g/n and AC support
Needed to extend my WiFi range from a wired Ethernet port for some RING cams that need more signal strength to operate over products with better WiFi chips. The setup procedure for this AP only unit is a bit more difficult than a router.Read full review
