Monopoly 64 A boardgame without a board

There have been plenty of Monopoly games transfered to the PC, but when I found a Monopoly game for the Nintendo 64 I had to buy it. This is my experiences.

Gameplay
The gameplay is simple in the way you roll the dice and buy properties. You can watch your piece move around the board with various camera angles. There are plenty of sound effects too. The graphics are pretty good for their time as well. You can also customize your rules too, like double the money when landing on go and collecting money when landing on Free Parking. It gets difficult when trying to execute other tasks like trading with other players. As a beginner it can be frustrating and confusing, but it just takes some practice. My only complaint is when you want to trade properties it takes you to a overhead view of the board to select them. Everytime you select a property to trade it blinks white, but the property you have the cursor over is also blinking, so this can be confusing when trading multiple properties.

Replay Value
Where this game really scores high is in multiplayer mode. Sure, you can play with the CPU, which is not really that bad, but is not the same as playing it with someone. Just like the boardgame you need someone to play with in order to make the game fun.

Overall
This is an original take on the electronic Monopoly. This is a must have for a fan of Monopoly with a N64 and a beginner collector. However they are a little expensive $10, it's worth it. This game is all the fun of a boardgame without the inconvience of setting it up.Read full review...

fun for the whole family, very easy to learn

This is a wonderful family game that even the youngest member of the family that can play any game or attempt to play can learn this quickly as it has built in features that will not allow you to do anything not in the rules. Up to 4 people can play at the same time or you can play by your self against the game. There is no counting money as it does it for you. It also has many options as to short game or "long" game as well. If you like board games you will have to get yourself a copy of this wonderful game. It is very family friendly. MAJOR PLUS!!!
