Mio Moov 500 GPS

Unit has lots of great features, simple to use and accurate. I've had very good experiences with it over the last three weeks and 3500 miles. Only needed to reset unit once. Maps load in under a minute 90% of the time. Touch screen is slightly oversensitive but otherwise no issues. My wife takes if for day trips as well and loves it. I haven't had the chance to use it in a dense city setting [i.e.-NY,NY] so I have no idea how it will work in that environment but everywhere else it has no problem keeping good signal and accurate directions. I am particularly fond of the ability to set the POI [Points Of Interest-fast food, golf courses, scenic areas, malls, ATMs, gas stations, etc] I want from a large list of options. Those selected will pop up on the screen as you travel making it easy to choose where you want to take a break on long trips and what is generally around you. POIs generally show up on the Mio before you see them advertised on billboards.Read full review...

Great GPS

I upgraded from the Mio C220 and was quite happy with this item.

Pros: Huge screen, some POIs show branded icon, tons of POIs (3.5 million+), Interface is easy to use, Maps are from Aug 2008 or newer, street names are spoken, fast route calculation, multiple 2d/3d views, price.

Cons: Coming from a previous Mio model this is what I consider some of the downfalls:
First off there is some minor lag when entering text/clicking menus sometimes that is annoying. The refresh rate when traveling is not as smooth as the C220 was either. My guess for both of these issues is that since it has a bigger screen it takes more processing power to move images. Also the C220 I had had the ability to avoid road for 1,2,5,10,20,maneuver miles when on a route. The Moov 500 just has "avoid area" which is not really the same thing. Might be just me, but the avoid setup in the C220 was way better and easier to use. Finally traffic antenna is not built in. So even though you get a year free, you have to spend $99 on the antenna for the USB port to use it.

Final Thoughts: Overall however the Pros FAR outweigh the cons which I feel are rather minor. I bought one of these for my father and girlfriend and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good GPS. No GPS is perfect and the flaws this one has are quite minor compared to the other products out there. I like mine a lot and despite Mio's hard to understand middle eastern customer service reps I like their products a lot.

One of the best GPS systems on the market.

1. Very simple to operate

2. Gives detail map and streets

3. Super price point.

I purchased the head only. I was able to use my windshield mount and existing
electrical plug. Moov does not have enough exposure in the American market.Read full review...
