I use these at work. I'm often underground in a concrete vault while trying to talk to someone in a basement. Most 2 way radios I have used are terrible in this scenario. You have to repeat yourself 4 or 5 times and try to hear the other person through a lot of static or interference( if it's even possible sometimes). Not with these! Very impressed with the clarity!! I have not done an extremely long distance yet but hands down, these blow away the other 3 brands (Motorola, Cobra, Uniden ) I have tried! Also have not tested the waterproof yet due to the nice clips. When I ( my coworkers)break these, I will definitely buy them again!!Read full review...

Excellent radios for my needs. Range is as expected, no surprises. Audio is clear, and has the features I wanted most. I am a ham operator with a general license. I cannot expect these radios to be as small and light as some of our expensive ($300+) handi-talkies yet. But as an alternative to communicating with none licensed family members, it is just perfect. City Use
I have tested it in a city over a 4 km walking distance. At one point the signal started to get little bad, but after adjusting the signal strenght to max power, then signal went back very clear like phone quality. I'm very surprised so easy it is to change settings, and the good effect. I also tested it on 26 km distance, keeping 1 at home and the other one in a car with no problems at all. I was skeptical about buying these radios since some of the reviews said they only reached a mile or 2. I took them on one of the biggest cruise ships made and had no trouble talking to my wife anywhere on the ship. I also talked to her while she was on the ship in Cozumel and I was in Playa Del Carmen which is about 14 miles away. Yes it was over open water with no obstacles, but that is still pretty good. A little static but I could hear every word without her having to repeat anything. I would recommend these. Only problem was that I had to have the factory send me two rechargeable battery packs because the ones that came with it wouldn't charge. Rather buy these than a cell phone or a cheep knockoff.
Review questions are skewed for advertisers. Hey, want a goid radio that performs. It might require you to use your brain and educate yourself a bit. I'm sick of plug and play mentality dictating wheather a product is good or not. Try....doesnt break unless your a complete idiot that expects all products are indestructible. Want good range? Do you know anything about line of sight, terrestrial interference, sunspot communication interference? Hey. Radio is well built, outputs well, good audio performance, very adaptable for alternative power sources, look can get it a little wet and it won't turn to junk. Yeah you shouldn't drop it in a lake and expect it to be waterproof like a Rolex sub mariner. For the money? Heck yes. I'd buy a dozen of these if i needed to. One cell phone at $1200 that can't survive 1 3ft drop or a rainshower? Oh and you need a network that works everywhere even if a power grid is down? Ha.
