Workhorse

This Surface tablet is solidly built, with a slim, detachable, magnetized keyboard. The tablet is fairly intuitive and boots up right away. One thing about the keyboard, though, is that it is very light relative to the tablet itself, so if you are walking around the room, it's awkward to balance.

I would recommend attaching the keyboard for when you have the unit sitting upright on a desk. but if you're lounging around, then you're better off detaching it and using the onscreen one, which is excellent.

A click of the address bar will display your regularly visited sites and also your most recent pages.

The device's five-contact-point magnetized charger seems a bit puzzling in that you have to make sure you align it properly and that the little blue light is on before it will charge.

Software wise, you still are not going to get all the apps you can with Android and Apple. But the tablet apps do seem more numerous than what you can get through Windows on a smartphone.

Also, you have no other browser option on the RT beyond Internet Explorer; you can't download Chrome. You also can't upgrade to Windows 10, and by extension, the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Despite some of these drawbacks, this is a solid machine, and I think of it more as a laptop than a tablet. For what I believe most people want a tablet for: email, videos and apps, the RT delivers and seems like it is built to last a long time.

Poor Advertising

This product was not as described as having Win10 it came with Windows 8 that need upgrade to Win 8.1. Which cause the keyboard and home button to stop working. The tablet is a very good device, responsiveness is great. It just was not what I read in the description and was expecting. Suggest you either devliver item with 10 installed or give product key with instructions to install. Read full review...

Great product, would have been perfect if it supports Silverlight.

I would have given it 5 Stars but the biggest issue I have with Surface RT is Silverlight support which is also a Microsoft product, you won't be able to install the software on this device therefore you won't be able to view websites that requires it. Although there are only a few websites I go to that requires Silverlight they are very important to me and I can't afford not be able to visit them on a daily basis and the idea of having this limitation forced me to return this item.

PROS:
1. Price - $199.00 was a steal.
2. Battery Life - which last for at least 8 hours.
3. Weight - very light and portable.
3. Screen - Although not a Full HD, it is bright and responsive.

CONS:
1. Silverlight support.
2. Could not get the gesture to work on Touch Cover 2 with Backlighting Model 1570.

CONCLUSION:
Great product, would have been perfect if it supports Silverlight.

I would recommend a different version of this product like Surface Pro 2 or 3 to a friend.

Downloading apps are a potential issue

Great product all in all. Fast and super easy to use. The apps you can download are limited to Microsoft apps (there are not many). Would not let me download apps at first. It claimed my internet was too slow, which it definitely was not. Did a factory reset and this fixed the problem. But happened again two weeks later. Called Microsoft for help but since the warranty was up from the previous owner, Microsoft would not help with the issue unless I wanted to pay them $29.99. I just use the browser for things like Facebook, Audible, Kindle, and Netflix. The product itself is great. I love that Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PP) are already on the device.Read full review...

Beautiful and powerful, under appreciated tablet.

This is a tablet that is well worth the money if you know what your doing. The WindowsRT operating system is new and the app store is a bit barren which is both good and bad. Both the Apple AppStore and Google Play Store are saturated with pointless apps and great apps, like wise the Windows Store has the same mixed bag just less volume.

The apps that I use on my Surface are well suited for it and work perfectly, and I'm a heavy Google app user. Coming from Androids Eco system there are a few things I miss, namely three: I would love to be able to see my Google Play Books, my Google Play Newsstand, and Chrome. But those three items as side, I could not be happier with my SurfaceRt.

The battery life is amazing, games look great, movies are beautiful on this display, music booms out the speakers, and remote desktop makes my tablet feel like a full fledged PC.

If you know what your doing, you will get way more then you paid for.

Great product for the money. Perfect for students.

I bought this tablet as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Her old laptop was on it's last leg and she needed something to use for schoolwork. I was a little hesitant about getting an RT model but I was more than pleasantly surprised! This tablet is awesome! It's super lightweight, fast, and easy to use. My girlfriend was running Win 7 and Office 2007. So this was a big change for her. But after the first day she was acclimated to it and using it like a pro. She loves her Surface now.

Pros: Lightweight, Fast Processor, Office comes pre-loaded, Easy to use.
Cons: Limited app selection, no iTunes.

Review of Surface RT 32 dark Titanium

It works very well, only downfall is the blue keyboard, I purchased this one and another that does not have the blue keyboard and it is more easier to use for a 70 year old disabled veteran. I don't recommend this type for older person but would recommend the one without the blue keypadRead full review...

Undecided!!

This product was recommended to me to replace a laptop I had that decided to do its own thing and die! This person was a computer expert!
I LOVE its portability. I think it will be great to take places because I have the acessability of any and all web sites.
I am not as thrilled with the windows aspect of it because I have AOL and couldn't down load it. I am sure a computer guru could do that for me. Overall I LIKE ITS SIZE ETC... It is just what you are used to. I think if it had a different operating system you wouldn't be able to get me off of it. I don't like the soft key board with it.
Once I replace that I think I will use it more and more. It has a great battery life. I have tried to get a blue tooth key board for it and failed. Not sure what the problem was because I have a 7" blue tooth and that connected to the tablet no problem. The one that was supposedly made for it wouldn't.
I truly do not want to sound negative about this item because I think over all it is a good tablet/pc. It is the operator and her quirks vs the machine and its quirks.
I would recommend it to anyone - HOWEVER, I would say go to a store play with one first and see how you feel about it. While it is a great tablet, well built, it is obviously not for everyone.

Great laptop alternative!

This is like a mini PC that I can carry in my purse! I love everything about it (except it will not play movies from Google Play offline like a phone or tablet). However everything else is great! I can read and edit Word or PPT or Excel documents. I can even use a MOUSE! Just make sure you let it update (the factory default config requires like 100 updates, which took like 12 hours). Couldn't be happier!Read full review...

Don't ignore the Microsoft Surface RT!

Most hardare hackers like myself wait till the bottle of wine or computer technology has matured to "test it." This time in 2015 I snatched a 64 gig Surface RT for fraction of its original cost with all of the functionality and hype when it was introduced by M-Soft several years ago as its response to the iPad. The first answer is that the Surface RT, and in a moment I'll explain what an RT is; does this Surface do what a 2015 tablet does. The answer is a resounding yes at a fraction of the price. RT is short for "run time," and it evolved when M-Soft made Win 3.0 and allowed run-time versions that were dedicated to specific application or games. In this instance the Surface RT uses an atom-based processor which is often incompatible with intel-based processors. This means that apps made for a tablet using the full version of Win 8.0 to 10.0 will often not work on an atom-bred tablet. The short answer is that the atom processor is slower than the intel processor in mips. Let's use the macbook or air book to the iPad , the former uses Yosemite and the later the latest IOS. iPad apps generally are incompatible with the former. So what good is the Surface 8 RT that may be upgraded to an 8.1 RT? Everything; because IE for the Surface RT may access any application and run it without regard or a specialized app. All printers that work with the full version of 8.0/8.1 will work with 8.0/8.1 RT The display us remarkable and if you ignore the nonsense about 8.0 and become more familiar with it you will actually like it and stop tossing darts at Steve Blamer's picture. The Surface RT has one small annoying flaw. The idea of a 12 volt power supply with a weird mag connector that often falls off is foolish, but getting the most inexpensive dedicated i.e. M-Soft branded keyboard that includes a touchpad is necessary. The keyboard shows remarkable engineering and snaps in place even when blind-folded. Unlike the poor design of the mag connector power supply, the keyboard is excellent. One thing, make sure that you get a Surface RT with the power supply because the quality of non-OEM ones vary too much to the negative. I think you will find the Surface RT to be an excellent tablet, and a remarkable value on Ebay. Of course always look for M-Soft updates for the OS. Have fun!Read full review...

Low cost computing made easy!

This is a great little machine. I travel a bunch in my business and it is a dream to carry through airports and in the car. It has plenty of memory and computing power for email, surfing, Excel, PowerPoint and the rest. It even projects to a screen with the full size USB port. I like it!Read full review...
