Excellent lightweight security

I use these for securing my game cameras bc I don't want sticky fingers to get them. Works great. One tip to remember, take your keys to a reliable locksmith (not the big box type either, an actual locksmith shop) and have them make you three copies on brass blanks. The factory keys on these locks are a cheap metal and will twist off if you're heavy handed or if the lock is a bit stuck from the elements, cold weather, or moisture. Place your spares in a safe location and if you lose one you'll always have backups.

I twisted a key on one I purchased from Amazon and it sheared off inside the lock. I retrieved the piece with a small pair of tweezer type pliers. I immediately took the second key to my local locksmith and got three brass spares cut from the second key that was included. Also one to two small drops of 3 in 1 oil will help prevent rust in the cylinders inside the lock itself.

by TOP CRITICAL REVIEW

Good bike lock, works good light weight and easy to use and store.

works nicely, light weight and easy to use. My only concern is I suspect a large cable cutter would cut right through it. (I don't know, I haven't tested this, but it is a worry I have.)

Nice lock!

This is identical to the Python locks I use to keep my tree cameras in place in the woods.

However, this unit uses a smaller-diameter cable, and it is great for fitting under my motorcycle seat. I use it to lock my jacket and helmet to my motorcycle when I leave them with it occasionally at motorcycling social events, i.e., bike nights.

I run the cable through one sleeve, through the faces hiked port of my helmet and back through the other sleeve, then through a rear foot peg bracket on the bike and lock it.

It is nice to know they'll be there when I return. $11 for piece of mind.

I got your security right here

It's a lock, and will lock up all kinds of things, especially things with a hole, with which you may
thread the cable through. I bought this for a trail camera, I'm not using it on a trail, but use it to
keep a digital eye on my evil and tricky neighbors, as well as the driveway where we park the cars.
Seriously, it's a great lock, with positive contact when the key is inserted- meaning, that the key
just doesn't fall out of the keyhole and disappear down in between the deck boards...
It comes with two keys, and one of those split ring things that hold keys, but what you'll also want, is one of those key tags so you can label the keys and not have to carry around a big keyring trying various keys until you find the right one.
What's better, is to live somewhere where you don't need to lock things up, possibly on the moon or other off-world real estate.

Ease of use.

Very easy product to use. Just turn the key, pull out the cable, wrap around any item you wanna lock up, turn the key, insert the cable back thru the lock, at this point you can remove the key and pull the cable as right as you want to secure the item. Would definitely recommend this product to outdoorsman for locking a climber stand to a tree or a trail camera to a tree to prevent would be thieves from walking off with your expensive investment. Travel Lock

Excellent bike lock: it expands to 6',so it can wrap around the whole frame and both wheels for that extra feeling of security. When not in use it coils up, so you may store it in a small saddle bag. Will work also to secure items to your truck or car rack when out and about traveling.Read full review

Master Lock 8417D Python

A good lock that I use for an older model Schwinn bicycle that I ride all over town.
The lock is convenient to use and easily transportable.
I wrap the cable around the bar beneath my bike seat post when not in use. I use a necklace keychain for the key, and unlock the cable. I unravel the cable, and wrap it around the bike rack or something secure, as many times as possible , and run the cable through the lock. It comes with two keys.Read full review

Secure and quick.

Good price on this Python lock, and it fits my game cameras, too! Need to lock something? Try the Python lock! I keep one in my truck to lock down valuable items too big to be placed inside the cab.

Trail cameras must have

Use these when setting up my trail cameras, I feel much better leaving my cameras miles away in the mountains using these. People may still defeat them but they must come prepared with heavy duty tools which I doubt they would carry far up in the mountains, miles from any road.Read full review

Python locking cable 8417D

Bought this to use with my game camera. So far it is the only cable lock that I have found with a cable head small enough to fit through the holes in the camera housing. It has plenty of cable to go around most any tree and should be strong enough to keep thieves from just grabbing the camera off the tree.Read full review
