A must have for your garand

If you don't reload your own, this plug is what you may need for your Garand.
Shooting commercial ammo can be hard on your gas operated rifle as most commercial ammo shoots at a higher pressure than is rated for your M1. Resulting in possible harm to the op rod or receiver. The ported gas plug takes care of the problem.
Garand Gear has done a lot of research that is available to you on their site. Read it!
There are cheaper plugs out there but their manufacturers are riding on the back of Eric and all of his work.Read full review

Great product

I installed it on my Garand and rapid fired two eight round bandolier clips and had no cycling issues or violent cycling using new Hunting style 30-06 Ammunition. Works, and looks like it was made well. Easy to install and no special Firearm specific tools needed. Great product and I like the fact that you don't have to adjust it manually like other adjustable gas plugs, you just thread it on and torque it to manufacturer spec and it works, it is as simple as that. M1 Garand rifle saver !

This product is well designed ,produced and performs as advertised !
I do not worry anymore when shooting my treasured M1 Garand !
Check out the designer specs ,you will see this is no band -aide type fix!
Change out-easily done !
Shoot it and forget it until normal clean up !!
My son shot several hundred rounds of steelcase cheap Tula ,monitored all rounds-all were safe pressures and below-NO problems with the cyclic rate ,no popped primers,no deformed cases etc!!

Well machined Gas Plug.

Excellent threading and machining on this plug! Functions well in my M1 Garand.
What sold me was the extensive pressure testing done with various brands of ammunition. Remove the old plug and replace with this ported plug and your done. Will not affect muzzle velocity of the bullet. A bit too expensive for what you get so only 4 stars.Read full review

M1 Garand ported gas plug

Easy to put on, but only functions with certain brands of ammo. Better buy is an adjustable plug. Dont really need the special tool for holding the gas tube and the barrel bracket in place when installing. Just good padding in a vise would do the job. If you are reloading the 30-06 round, don't bother with this plug.

Additional: Above is the original review. However, further tests revealed that the original tests were flawed due to carbon build up. After it was cleaned and properly lubed, it worked flawlessly even with reloads. Rating been changed to 5 stars, well worth the money.Read full review

I do my own reloading for my M1. Loads are for service rifle. Without ported plug cases are thrown about.10ft with new plug about 4ft. Pressures good.
