Have owned these for about 3 years and just bought 2 more sets.

For 30W and such a small amount of energy consumption these speakers pack an awesome stereo pseudo-surround sound punch for the dollar (maybe the best going deal out there) and really do go the mile. I have owned these on my home studio computer for about five years and I have never had a problem. Many of my friends with larger more expensive systems are envious of the bold sound experience of the compact surround set. Granted, placement is important when setting up and having a good sound card, drivers, and audio software is always suggested. Also, by default Windows will limit your volume output, which can be manually toggled off in your sound options. Ultimately, these have nicely handled anything I have thrown at them and sounded pretty darn good (and I used to work in sound production and mastering)! To all those complaining about terrible sound quality -- I would contact Logitech (who have excellent customer service) and send them back, you probably have a defective set.

The only con I can find is with my old set - I have started (recently) to get a slight static sound when adjusting the volume knob. It is a minor and brief white noise crackle in the speaker which only happens when you first begin turning the volume knob. This set has been around the block and even fell down some stairs in a move. It also survived my son filling the satellite speakers with LEGOs (one of which still remains in one).

If you are on a budget and not looking to spend $300 for a set of BOSE 7.1s -- this is a great alternative that will not disappoint you.

Sound like mono

I just found out that speakers sound like mono. Both sides play the same sound. I tried to plug them to different devices and the result is the same. This is definitely mono sound. Speakers convert audio stream from stereo to mono. I am completely disappointed.Read full review...

computer speakers

I found these speakers are truly a great value and sound for use with a computer. There is quite a bit of base the subwoofer has a separate volume control. Plenty of volume between the controls on the volume and the speaker volume control. I was using the Dell speakers that come with the computer they were fine for normal listening (better than most) but what a difference these speakers make. I have to say they are much better than what you think you would get for such a small cost. The company sent them out very fast.Read full review...

2.1 Sound at 1.0 price!!

If you're looking for high end sound, this is NOT the system for you. If you're looking for inexpensive 2.1 Surround Sound, then this Logitech unit is a great deal! I purchased mine to replace a basic speaker set, and it has plenty of power to run it. I've found through other reviews that the subwoofer box is what blows out, and there's no grilles over the 2 main speakers, so one does have to be careful about placement and keep them clean.

I love the sound quality as long as it isn't at top volume, where things begin to distort quite a bit. Overall, a great deal that meets my basic needs gaming and listening to digital music.

Lucked out with these set of speakers

So far so good. Great PC speakers for the price. Decent sound. Love the fact that you can adjust the bass on the subwoofer and the on/off, volume control switch is on the speaker.

great sound

Most of my electronics is refurbished. I trust the quality of these items. The speakers work great. The sub woofer has a separate volume control so you adjust it to compensate the all around sound. For those who don't know about frequency, check online and see what is the lowest you can hear and the highest. These are 40 to 20k mhz. well above my hearing range. So shop with confidence. These will fill your space with great sound coming from your computer.Read full review...

so Great

These speakers are awesome. I am using them in an art room in an old metal shop. the volume of the space is big enough to hold an average size house and these little speakers will run us out if we crank them too high. Base is great. We never need more than half of it's capability.Read full review...

A little heavy on the bass, just keep the sub turned way down, like I do.

Being refurbished, I had to make a minor repair on the very top left corner of the sub-woofer, where about 1/8th of the black laminate had pulled away from the wood cabinet., Used Elmer's All Purpose glue and it did the trick of gluing it back to the wood.

Just be careful in how you pick up these speakers as there is no grill to protect the speakers. Don't reach under the subwoofer to move it or you can put a finger through the down facing speaker. I like the look of no grill over the speakers, you have to be careful. All in all, was impressed with the sound from this budget system. Would never pay full retail ($70) though for this system.
