Great super sexy fuctional remote

I really like this remote, you can program 15 devices into it wich i would prefer if it held 20-25 for future upgrades. This thing is vey easy to program, and for most people it would be fine, Im a very tech savy person and I just wish it was a l ittle more programmable. Its not like it prevents me from doing anything I would just like to do a few things with it that the wizard wont let me. I was very pleaseantly surprised that it was able to control my xbox, xbox hddvd, logitech revue/google tv, and my HTPC!! I think this is better than the harmony 900 because this model lets you do macros/activities and the 900 dosnt. But the 900 has RF and the 4 color buttons that the bluray remotes have. Also the 900 has a tiny bit better resolution screen. Besides the activities wich is really cool, you can downlosd all the network logos and put them on your phone for your favorites. I dont know about you but I have comcast full digital hd package and with 900 channels i only have about 30 that are my favorites and i like the HD versions and i have a tough time scrolling thru page after page of the on screen gude to find the right channel. Now all my favs are right there on my remote, they look sharp too! Another thing you can do is download any pics yu want to it and put on a slide show on your remote screen or when you dock it it will automatically run the slideshow. Oh yeah it has a really sexy charging dock with rechargeable battery. Its probably the best looking, best feeling remote ive ever owned. I give this an 8 out of 10. I wish this had some of the functions of some of the URC remotees but this was alot cheaper and i think it looks and feels alittle cooler. It definitly does the trick. If your super tech savy, have compicated, personalized macros you need configured or you need control of lighting or home automation than youll probably want to pick up a different remote.Read full review...

Logitech Harmony One LCD Touchscreen Remote Control

This is a remote I would definately recommend to others. I have a LCD TV, A/V receiver, Verizon Fios cable box, Blue-ray player, media center PC, and 2 video game consoles and am able to control all with the convience of one remote instead of 5. You are able to create "activities" (and name them to whatever makes sense to you) that will adjust all device components to perform a certain task. For example, to watch tv, I can press 1 button to turn on tv, cable box, and receiver to correct input. The remote is smart enough to realize when I watch tv I use the verizon box to adjust channels and the reciever to adjust volume. So you dont have to change funtions on remote to raise volume. My girlfriend loves the fact that she can press "Play Wii" and she doesnt have to change 3 different devices to play Donkey Kong.

Setup does take some time and it is definately more than the 30 minutes that the manual for the remote tells you to set aside. I like the fact that all configuration is done on a PC with a USB cable connected to the remote. Although time consuming, the setup is very simple if you have basic computer skills. Just make sure you write down all your device manufacturers and model numbers. It will slightly speed up the process

Very Best Harmony Remote

Why Logitech discontinued this design is crazy. It's easy to use, easy to program (took 20 minutes to download software and program three devices ), and fit perfectly in my hand. I hope this NEVER breaks.

I actually bought this after purchasing the Harmony Ultimate One which was hard to use, touchy if you even bumped it, and had too many things on the screen that made it confusing to use. I hated it and it's now for sale on eBay.

Logitech Harmony One Remote

I bought this remote because I was tired of doing the "Remote Shuffle" whenever I wanted to use my Audio/Video system. I have only had the remote for 1 day so keep in mind I am far from having mastered this thing.

PROs:
*Adding components via Logitech Website automates programming the functions of your individual components to the Harmony One.
*Ability to have the Website automatically create the general macros based on your specific components couldn't be any easier.
*No more need for the "Remote Shuffle" just to watch TV or listen to the radio/CDs.
*Remote backlighting is turned on when you pick it up based on "motion-sensing" feature.
*Remote can be updated as you change or add components to your system.
*If you ever need to replace your remote you can simply download your current programming to the new remote vs having to set everything up from scratch.

CONs: (to be determined)
*Need for a charging cradle - this may become a PRO if this remote burns through the battery life due to the nice color display.
* Learning curve of finding, customizing and tweaking the remote for all the features that are not general or common functions. (keep in mind I have only had this for 1 day).

Logitech Harmony So-So

The device performs as advertised although the selection of of available pre loaded devices did not include either a Verizon FIOS HDDVR or a Phillips DVDVR. When they do not have the actual device in their data base they attempt to find something similar. The result is you still have to use the original remote for some functions.

I have also found the auto turn on of several devices to be useless. The Harmony will turn on the power but the sending of set up commands is hit and miss due to the time intervals which the various devices require between commands. It is best just to turn on the devices and use the device selection button to manually make the boxes do whatever you want after they turn on. If you screw around with the setup commands by inserting delays you can get the sequences working but it really isn't worth the time unless this is a hobby kind of thing. Since in general you will not know the timing requirements it requires a lot of hit and miss programming of delays.

If anyone is considering buying one of these devices I would recommend you first ascertain if Logitech has the devices you plan on controlling in their data base. If not be prepared to spend a fair amount of time hacking around to get things working such that you can put the original remote controls away most of the time.

The long and short of it is the device is better than having multiple remotes to screw around with. What you end up with is one remote with which you can simulate the original remotes most of the time except for the more esoteric functions. If you want to play around for a long time you can eventually get a function like turn on the TV,turn on the DVR, select the correct input for the TV,start playing the DVD and go to the DVD menu. Achieving all this with the required delays between commands is somewhat akin to pulling teeth, possible but extremely painful.

BTW I am an EE with a lot of experience designing control systems so sequencing activities is not foreign to me. If you are not prepared to spend quite a bit of time getting the programming right stick with your currents remotes.

The Logitech Harmony One is Truly Astounding

I never really though I wold fund a true "universal remote". There are so many brands and models of av equipment and very llittle in the way of standards on how they are controlled - TV's, DVR's, BluRay Players, Receivers, etc., that for any company to create a universal remote, they would literally need to create a massive software database that essentially provide all of the drivers (much like we have for our printers), so the remote woudl be able to communicate with all of them.

Logitech has done just this with a very simple and intuitive interface and remote that ANYONE can easily use because it's as simply as pressing a button once it's programmed. The programming is very simple as well and can be done on the Logitech website.

Here's how it works. In my case, I have a 55" Vizio LCD TV, a VIZIO BluRay Player, an ONKYO receiver, a Scientific Atlantic DVR (through Time Warner Cable) and an Apple iTouch.

Let's say I want to program the ACTIVITY "Watch TV". In order to do that at the push of a button, I need the TV to turn on, the DVR to turn on and everything else to remain OFF.

After I have told Logitech what devices I have (their database has literally tens of thousands of devices), it essentially creates a software macro (kind o like excel), so that when I push that one button - Everything Just Works. Same for if I want to create an activity "Watch DVD" or "Listen To Music".

There is a simple, beautiful little LCD touchscreen about 2" wide that has these icons with the names of what you want to do and you just - PUSH THE TOUCHSCREEN ICON for the activity you want. It's as simple as that. No more memorizing the button functionalities of 100 little buttons per remote. No more juggling remotes. I'm nearsighted so I can't even see what those little button say any more without reading glasses, so that was a real pain. Now - it's just simple. I never write reviews, but this is one product that's worth it. I didn't want to spend the extra money on this device after buying all that equipment, but I sure am glad I did. It's made the experience so much more enjoyable. Good luck!

So easy my wife can use it ;-)

Easy to program universal remote control. Software downloaded from logitech resides on your computer and makes it simple to add devices to the remote for it to control via the supplied usb cable. Once you get the gist on how the remote operates you can tell it to control all aspects of your home entertainment system with a poke on the colorful touch screen. So easy to use my wife can now watch TV with the surround sound !!! Love this device ... and no need to worry about batteries thanks to the charging cradle. Would be cool if the charging cradle had a button you could press so the remote would beep when it gets lost in the sofa :-). Anyway, a great addition to your entertainment system. I was able to put six remotes into storage. Thanks Logitech !Read full review...

Not worth $200 - $250 retail but certainly worth $124 as "like new..."

In a word: awesome. This Harmony One's greatest feature is not its touch display or its sleek design. Granted, those are awesome features, but what separates the Harmony One from its lower end models (and I also own a Harmony 650) is the rechargeable charging dock. My Harmony 650 has gone through 4 sets of batteries in less than 3 months (i.e. wife is a "power channel flipper") and I always have the task of changing out batteries. This remote lasts multiple days without a recharge even without the stand (haven't had it long enough to now how long I can go without recharging) but the stand is also a good place to store the remote. It's not hiding in the couch cushions or getting stepped on. I got my gently used Harmony One for $124 and am so glad I did. I've got a Samsung LCD TV, Vizio Soundbar, Nintendo Wii (doesn't read WiiMote signals but will put TV on proper inputs), DVD player and old XBox and Dreamcast connected to my system. This remote will get me to the right inputs with ease. Also, you can program your favorite channels into the remote (including the download of network icons from the internet - awesome) and it has a sleek black shiny look and casing that feels more durable than my Harmony 650. This is certainly the Cadillac of remotes. It's usually "one push" to get to a certain mode (i.e. watch TV, watch DVD, play video games are amongst the "Activities" offered). This one retails between $200 and $250, which is way too much dough. Find a cheaper used one in the low $120s from a reputable eBayer. Great, great, great product.Read full review...

Very nice remote. BUT

PROS
Touch display
interface works great
Looks Great
Feel good in my hands

Set up was fairly easy. Once this is set up thru the software, It does everything your old remotes would do. Sleep timer works for both TV and reciver,All my 24 DSP fields are listed and works, all the funtions/Menus for my LCD TV, A/V reciver, Cable DVR works as well as my Blueray player. If you run into a problem and a certain funtion doesnt seem to work the help button works wonders

Once this remote is set up You just have to get used to everything being on 1 remote. Which doesnt take long at all

CONS
You need to have line of site in order for this remote to work. Logitech does not offer a IF extender for this remote.

So if your A/V Reciever, Cable Box, DVD/Blueray are in a cabinet or you dont have line of site. I would suggest a RF remote such as the Logitech Harmony 890 or the 1000 Both of these models give you the option of adding a RF extender.

Logitech Harmony One

We recently purchase a big screen 3D TV along with a blu-ray player. We also have Bose system, a cable box, 6-pack CD player, and a VHS recorder/player. Once the TV was installed it was a TOTAL nightmare having to use 5 different controllers. One of my friends told me I needed to get a LOGITECH HARMONY ONE REMOTE. I looked into purchasing one but the price ($250.00 at Best Buy) kind of put a damper on getting it right away. I finally decided to go ahead and get it. I was lucky enough to find it on Ebay for a lot less price. After getting it programmed to all my equipment it would have well be worth the original price of $250.00. This remote is absolutely GREAT. With just the press of one button, all the necessary equipment turns on to support whatever device you want to watch or listen to. Now just by pressing the TV button the cable box, Bose system and TV all turn on at once. This remote is absolutely something that I can not live without. If this remote broke today, I would purchase another one tonight. LIFE FINALLY GOT EASIER !!!!!Read full review...
