spegetti like plastic coal
this stuff does not look like coal and it bounces out of the coal cars all over the table. the ideal coal should be made of a heavey or dense plastic in the shape of coal pellets (like fish gravel) it should be iarge enough to fill a coal car and when going up the belt small enough to catch well in the ribs of the belt but not to big to get stuck when going over the top of the belt (use black fish gravel)Read full review...

Works well by Lionel!
I've been assigned the responsibility of curating the family Lionel collection. Several old "coal loading, hauling and transporting items" that we have were relying on rice coal or pebbles... I wanted to change that to a Lionel Approved product.
Lionel model coal works better with the sets, does not damage them (like the pebbles were doing Uncle C...) And Lionel coal looks more period appropriate.

I bought this fine graded coal for use in the Lionel No. 397 operating coal loader. This accessory can be "touchy" and any larger grade of coal does not work well.
