Excellent Game But.....

This game was amazing, and the graphics are breathtaking. If you have played the Original Tomb Raider then you should pick up a copy of Anniversary. It was great how they changed the levels and make them alittle tougher. And I thought this Tomb Raider was alot harder than the Original. The only thing I hate about Anniversary is the controls I HATE IT !!!!. I'm so used to hold the X button while on a ledge on this one you have to hold R2. But other than this game is great. Better than Legend and a helluva lot better than Angel Of Darkness. But still it ain't no better than the Original. I just hope they don't remake Tomb Raider 2 or any other Tomb Raiders.Read full review...

A chance to enjoy a great series which has been doom

I was once a fan of the original series however with each new game that came out I got to dislike the series game play for what it used to be and became instead frustrated greatly with it.(Glitches galore) Not only has the game play been downplay but also the story and the locations. (No more tomb raiding) While this game still has it frustration it is incredibly enjoyable. As a fan of the old tombraider games (1,2 and 3) and a fan of the current games (legend and anniversary) I got to really liken what they did in this remake. It is totally worth the time to play for anybody due to the ease of the gameplay (smooth animations and incredible boots in graphics) without incredible frustration. (Camera still gives a bit of problem but what the hell the game is still fun) It is a bit easier then the original and the extras are not that great but it gives hope that further installments will be better. Hopefully.Read full review...

Old-School Memories

As I played with the game, I started sensing that I'd played this game before. It dawned on me that the gameplay was extremely reminiscent from the games of the previous iteration on the original playstation. graphics are on par with the system and gameplay is compelling. Love seeing Lara Croft do her thing.Read full review...

Good Game And Graphics

I think it's so awful how this game comes in having to be redone to fill in the lack of serious true adventure games. It just proves Tomb Raider is really one of the best long lasting adventure games ever and I was more than honored to play this bad boy keeping up over these 11 years. This is a serious game, no holding hands like TR: Legend. Either you got the guts or you don't in this one.

When I first played TR: Legend, I had several honest-to-god "Wow!" moments because of the gorgeous visuals. "Tomb Raider Anniversary" gave me more than that, it couples the "Wow!" factor with a hefty dose of nostalgia and some insanely detailed models that are totally reminiscent of the feel of the original 1996 game, while still managing to be new and fresh and engaging. Level design is changed to accommodate Lara's new movement style, but are still recognizable enough to make us fans of the original game grin from ear-to-ear with the familiarity of the settings. For example: the water-filled subterranean room in The Great Pyramid is so nostalgic as to be breathtaking, but requires a whole new thought process and set of puzzle solutions to traverse. Similarly, St. Francis' Folly, arguably the first level in the history of video games that really proved the

worth of the 3D environment, looks so familiar, but plays very differently. The upshot of this is a game that will not only thrill newcomers, but will make us old-time Tomb Raiders sit back and remember exactly why we fell so much in love with Lara Croft in the first place

Umbrella Review

Tomb Raider one is considerd one of the greastest games for the Playstation 1 when it was released in 1996. However with the jump to the playstation 2 Tomb Raider looked like it may have been getting on in years with the dissapointment of the Angel of Darkness. However recently with the help of Tomb Raider Legend the Tomb Raider franchise is back in action. So The Tomb Raider Anniversary is not just a remake of the orginal Tomb Raider its a complete reconstruction. All the things that made the orginal great are still hear like the Climatic battle with the T-Rex and the very diffucult but rewarding puzzels. Its graphics are also far superior to Legends and the enviroments are what we all remember from Tomb Raiders golden age. Peru, Greece, Egypt and Atlance are all hear but there are many differences to challenge even the veteran Tomb Raider player.

Like the Orignal you start of in Peru looking for the acient pieces of the Scion after retriving the first one you learn that maybe your employer may not be all she seems and set off to Greece to find the second Piece of the Scion and the to Egypt to find the third Scion fragment. Along the first three stages your battle raging dinosaurs dangerous wildlife including Lions, Crocodiles and Bears and in Egypt your face more mystical villians like mummies and mutants as well as battling rival Tomb Raiders along the way.

In the Final Stage set the Mythical Atlantis there you'll face off agianst Natla's hechmen the famous winged mutants centuras and then the final form of Natla her self. The game also hass some added features and the grapple from Legend also reappers but the Headset and P.D.A arnt to keep in with the orginal Tomb Raiders atmosphere. There is also a much largeer array of Weapons including the Famous duel Pistols, Duels Uzis and Duel Shotguns and the Duel Magnums. The game its self is also considerably longer than Legend almost three times the size.

Overall this game is great and not just a remake it is also a real challenge and really not for people who are new to the franchise becuase it will challenge the most skilled gamer. It is real fun to play and the orignal Atmosphere from the orignal Tomb Raider is present hear which is what a lot of over Tomb Raiders lacked.

TR: Anniversary

Oh my goodness!! This game is crazy. Lara still moves higher than PS2 standards. All the great graphics and effects from TRL plus cool, new moves and a lengthy game. What more could one ask for.
Inventory:
Grapple (hook)
Dual pistols
Shotgun
Lara uses her grapple hook now to swing or wall run. Wall run is where a character runs horizontally across a wall. Lara can also now perch like a bird on top of narrow colums and swing on poles like a true gymnast. She has all the dirt and water effects on her body still. She sports her classsic blue shirt & tan shorts. This game is long but not too long which I love. Interactive cutscenes have been added throughout the game where the player is simultaneously watching a cutscene and pressing buttons to control her actions eventually saving Lara's life. Since this is a remake of TR1 Lara has less and more primative equippment so it feels like a prequal. LOve this one difintitely get it.

Tomb Raider : Anniversary **Maybe The Best One Yet**

The game is a remake of the original Tomb Raider, but with a few changes to the story, events, puzzles, and level designs. I won't spoil anything here for those of you who haven't ever played the original, but I will say that even for veterans of the original game, this is a must-play.

The first hing you'll notice upon starting the game, is the graphics. These are as great as anything you'll find on the PS2, and rivals the graphics of even games like God of War. The detailing on the environments is simply superb, as are the lighting and shadow effects. You'll find yourself simply stopping to admire the gorgeous level designs every so often over the course of the game. And of course, Lara looks as good as ever. Everything on her in-game model is meticulously done, all the way down to small details like her eyelashes and the treads of her boots. Her skin and clothing will actually appear wet upon leaving a pool of water, and will slowly dry over time.

Outside of a few camera issues, this game is the total Tomb Raider package. Great gameplay, tight controls, challenging boss battles, brain-breaking puzzles, and awe-inspiring graphics make Lara's first adventure her finest yet. A must buy for fans of Tomb Raider, adventure lovers, and just gamers in general.

Get it on the 360 if you'd like to have this game.

This edition strikes a balance between providing an homage and delivering new, exciting content. The acrobatic action adventure gameplay is challenging without being frustrating. Lara looks great and moves effortlessly. Adrenaline dodge makes combat more exciting. The thing here is, don't buy it on PS2 because there are TONS of jaggy edges on PS2 version.Read full review...

Tomb Raider Anniversary review by the working man.

Well this is the 8th in the series of the legendary Tomb Raider games and quite a disappointment for me. First why in the world would they make a 10th Anniversary game and make the control configuration totally different? Some people like it, I don't. It was extremely confusing after playing the first fives games to re-learn the controls but I guess it could be considered easier. THe adrenaline boost is a joke and it would be a fantastic game for people that never played the previous Tomb Raider games. I found the camera angles terrible, no LOOK button and the rapid shifts in screen placement and changes gave me a severe headache. THe graphics are spectacular, but they should be, so we will disregard this, the game offers little items or hard to find and overall I think this is an exceedingly terrible game and would not recommend it to a REAL Lara Croft fan. Save your money and play the first five one's over again. Even U-Tube has video's on how terrible this game is. I wish I would have seen those first. Bring back the REAL developers!Read full review...
