Way better than the LG G3

I haven't owned a ton of smartphones, but I have had a chance to try the LG G3 and the LG G2 and can honestly say the LG G2 is a much better phone.

The screen on the G2 is nicer (brighter & more vivid), and even though you can't replace the batteries, charges last forever. If I don't use it, it'll stay charged for days on standby. I could easily get over 12 hours with heavy use, and regular use could probably charge every other day. The body feels more solid and has a higher quality feel. NFC, internal gyro (good to use with Google Cardboard), and USB host mode (I can attach an external midi keyboard for music) are a few extras that I appreciate.

On the other hand, the G3 has horrible battery times, I even bought a new battery I thought maybe it was old, but nope, the battery life was still just as bad. It wouldn't last 24 hours even if I turned off all the services, put it in airplane mode and didn't touch it. Normal use could stretch 8 hours, heavy use less than 6 hours. Although you can replace the battery easily and upgrade memory, it doesn't make up for the fact that you can't really use it that much without burning through the battery. The body is more like a light weight plastic, and even though the screen is higher resolution and slightly bigger, it appears more dull, and gets VERY hot which I think might be part of the problem with the battery drain.

I've found the G2 to be a solid, full featured, well built, easy to use smartphone. Highly recommend it!

LG G2 Verizon

It was a good price. I sometimes have a problem with the touch screen where you want it to do something and it just looks at you. Also, when you email and touch letters it puts in a wrong letter in and that is frustrating. I even use a little wand for the phone.I have reset it a few times and same thing happens. I use Yahoo mail and I get more spam on this phone and never got it on my old phone which was a Samsung Galaxy III. I would not buy again. I admit this phone is a lot faster and I like that. But it is not worth the aggravation.Read full review...

It's a good phone.

Phone has some bugs with the keyboard. Very short battery life for such a large battery. Has no forward button, only a back button. If you go back, you better make sure that's what you want to do. Considering the phones shortcomings, it's acceptable and the price was OK. Phone is not rooted. Many of the factory loaded apps are still installed and cannot be removed. Only 21gb of memory remains.Read full review...

LG G2 Smartphone - GOOD??

Got the phone and after two days of updating, it finally was off to the races. I was used to my Note 3 but figured I'd give LG a fair shot. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed as the touch screen would freeze almost every time I tried to use the device. After researching, this model phone has seen this issue somewhat frequently. Seems like I just got one of the few bad ones. Probably would have liked the phone had the touch screen worked. Good luck if purchasing.Read full review...

BEST SMARTPHONE I HAVE EVER OWNED!

I HAVE BEEN USING THE LG G2 EVERY DAY SINCE IT WAS RELEASED!
THERE HASN'T BEEN A BETTER, MORE PERFECT SIZE PHONE
WITH THIS SHARP OF A DISPLAY IN THIS PRICE RANGE SINCE.
- THE G3, G4 etc. ARE TOO BIG AND NOT AS TOUGH.
I'VE TRIED THEM ALL AND THIS IS THE BEST OVERALL ANDROID DEVICE
FOR THE MONEY, EVEN WHEN COMPARED TO THE iPhone 6 and Samsung S6.
In my honest opinion this is one of the best all around Android Smartphones ever made!
(Especially when you consider it costs only half as much to own one!)
The size is perfect for carrying in your pocket. The viewing area is larger than
the Samsung S6 and the iPhone 6 and 6S. The Camera is great in low light
and the features are endless! More importantly it's easy to learn how to use
and easy to carry around with you. Even though it's very thin, It's super
RUGGED and it takes beating. The Touch Screen has a fantastic coating that
is super smooth to the touch and resists fingerprints better than most smartphones.
You'll also notice there's no "Home" button on the face of this phone.
You simply double tap the screen to turn on or off the display! There's also
physical on/off button on the back of the phone along with the volume buttons.
This way you won't accidentally raise & lower volume when holding the phone.
- Very Clever! There's even a "built in" remote control for your T.V. and cable!
Tons more features built in plus works extremely well with Google for the ultimate Smartphone Experience! You should make sure you buy this phone new, with original software if possible. Don't buy refurbished or used for best battery life and performance. If possible try to buy this phone with the original "stock" operating system. Either Jelly Bean or Kitkat. (You can always update to a newer OS anytime, but these OS work best on this model.) You won't need to buy insurance on this phone either. If it should happen to get damaged, lost or stolen it's inexpensive to replace. If you can find this device in nrand new condition BUY IT. You won't be sorry!

I do like the phone very much. I was disappointed in the cosmetic appearance. It was described as a 4 out of 5 . The back cover appears very worn and there are a few deeper scratches on the screen. A 2.5 to 3 would be more accurate. But I like the way it works and the features very much.Read full review...

Great for Older

If money is tight for at least a phone a year old, then this is a good one. It has a very good display and overall is a great device for it's age. I have always tried to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, but felt content with this phone longer than the rest. But do note that software and security updates will no longer be pushed to this model. Only G3 and above. Also if your into it, the G2 on all carriers is easy to root!Read full review...

Lg G2 Great features, good battery life

Very impressed with the ease of use, and the battery life. Most of the time the battery lasts all day. (Except when using apps like Waze which seems to eat up the battery) It's my second LG phone - my first was an LG 3. I think I like this LG 2 better - the battery seems to last longer. It's a good size screen, clear and bright. Exceeded my expectations for a used smart phone. Excellent value.Read full review...

Surprisingly Good Phone

I was looking for a new phone, and was determined to not go the Refurb/Used route. I searched through the phones available in my price range and found one I felt I could live with. As I read reviews, I was not well pleased. Reviews, both published and users, were not very favorable, still it was the best new phone in my price range. I decided to look into refurbs. I found the G2, and even though it is nearly 4 years old, it far outclasses any new phone I had considered. The phone I was looking at had a rather anemic Snapdragon 210@1.1 GHz and reviews reported rather muddy video. With a Snapdragon 800@2.26GHz, the G2 is twice the phone at about the same money, and had reportedly excellent video. Using Android 5.0.2, it does not have the latest updates, but is still quite serviceable, and I am well pleased. The 5.2" display is super sharp, with incredible color, and amazingly crisp video. I have to say the display is quite comparable to my brother's Galaxy S6. The 13MP camera is comparable to many dedicated digital cameras, and even the 2.1MP front facing camera is quite sharp. This phone is *not* overrated! At the average refurb/used price, I am convinced it is the best bargain for the money.Read full review...

Great Phone

Got for my wife after watching youtube reviews of the G2, G3, and G4.. many said the G2 was the better choice and now that its a few years old, it still packs enough punch to handle everything we needed in a cel phone. alot of reviews I saw said the camera was better on this phone than some other high dollar brands, and so far it has not disappointed either of us. (I bought myself a used G3 and noticed a lot of similarities) The only odditiy I found is that in finding a case, some specify if its a verizon model or ATT/Tmobile version. I found this odd that LG would make two versions of the G2. The average user wont notice the difference between the two.Read full review...
