An Underrated Gem
L.A. Noire is an open world game set during post WW2. Cole Phelps, the game's protagonist returns home after the war and joins the LA Police Department.
Starting off as a patrolman Cole soon encounters crimes on the street which propel him into the seedy side of Los Angeles as well as up the ranks of the Police Department. There is an overarching story for each desk you work on as well as a story which links the past and the crimes together.
You are free to roam the city at your leisure and search for collectibles and landmarks or simply just drive at your leisure in the vehicles of the period but, sadly, there isn't much in the way of activities to distract you from the main game.
This is an amazing game with a great 'film noire' fell to it and has some amazing animations facially as well as voice acting. It's gameplay is compelling and drives you on through the story with it's investigations, driving, gunplay, fighting and interrogation. Just a little more to do in the world and this would get 5 stars but still an amazing game.Read full review...

Immersive experience
Missed this for the ps3 and picked it up shortly after it came out for the ps4. Team Bondi and Rockstar did a fantastic job with the level of detail that went into recreating the time era the game is set in, as well as the city and characters themselves.
