Best sound as always but get backup cushions for best comfort

I had first tried these 12 years ago and fell in love with them. After over 5+ years of improper storage, they went out on me and I waited another 5+ years before I decided to buy another set.

The sound quality is as I remember, but I noticed that Koss has decided to omit the extra sets of different-shaped ear cushions. The original ones they come with are, in my opinion, a little too hard and not as flexible as they should be. When I pinch them to insert in my ear, the hard plastic base of the earbud scrapes the opening of my ear canal and the cone shape of the cushion doesn't conform to my ear very well. The buds I had before included a cylindrical pair of cushions, similar in texture to the original cones, a softer pair of cones (which I completely wore out) and a hexagonal pair of cushions that were soft as well.

Luckily Koss didn't stop making them altogether, they instead decided to sell them separately and milk more money out of us. Although I don't like it, I plan to get these extra cushions so I can enjoy them better again. But I digress, these still are the best sounding earbuds out there after all these years.

Good Product - Limited Life

These are a good set of headphones. Good quality sound and comfortable for the price. I think, however, that they will have a limited life span as the foam on the earpieces is already starting to show signs of wear and loose their shape. Evidence that this is possible is that the manufacturer includes a spare set of foam pieces with the purchase. I think the spares will be necessary in the not so distant future.Read full review...

General good product.

Better than average sound quality. Bass works if you get the foam earpieces to fit. Pretty much the same as Koss Spark Plug. I've bought and used about 10 pairs total.

Good for specialty uses. I use mine in shower and sauna. Really, I do. These are not waterproof and will break in about 4 months if not protected. Using custom water protection (liquid tape, vulcanizing tape...) on the outside black parts will make these last almost a year.

Stock foam earpieces are good, but loose their moldability and grip in a couple of months. I make custom earpieces from standard cloced-cell foam earplugs - just punch a hole in the middle. Stock silicone pieces have little grip and they do not provice noise cancellation as well as foams.

I haven't found aany better price/quality earphones yet.

Koss the plug black in ear isolation earbuds for iPod

First of all it's not only for iPod. I'm using it for an IAudio (Cowan).
Pros: very lightweight, cable makes no sound when rubbed. Good sound quality.
Comfortable foam type earpieces. Block out noise fairly well.
Cons: so lightweight, that I doubt the cable connection to the earbud will last very long. The foam earpieces are bound to deteriorate sooner than rubber, and they only come with an extra set, smaller size. Don't know if any other earpiece, rubber type, would fit. Probably would.
Overall, a good value for the money.

10 out of 10 great product

i have owned many types of headphones over the years, and the koss brand is one of the best in my opinion, why ?,well i ride a motorcycle and i have tried other brands which are either uncomfortable, don't sit in your ear properly and come out when you put the helmet on,or the sound quality is rubbish. Now i had owned a pair of koss headphones in 1988 and they were great as well so i thought i would see how this brand has progressed.I am impresssed by the sound quality,i am able to wear them for 3 or more hours with out my ears hurting or rubbing on my helmet, and they are easy to clean.Read full review...

Comfy, good sound, flimsy build, wires tangle easily

They're comfortable because Koss uses a soft material for the earbud tips. Sound quality is good, clean not bassy. Noise cancellation is non-existent tho. You hear everything around you, just muted. Wires seem very flimsy and tangle very easily.Read full review...

Best. Headphones. Period.

I have had my share of headphones, and this was by far the absolute best of all. They fit, feel and sound like $200 headphones you get at an fashion store. Yes, they are not wireless, and does not include a microphone, but if you are looking for regular headphones, I recommend these by far.

There are many positive qualities to KOSS Earplug Headphones. The sound quality includes the lowest bass any headphone offers. My ears vibrate beautifully to R&B and Electronica genres. The treble is set just fine, not too high to hurt my eardrums, not too quiet to miss voices. The earpiece alone makes these headphones universal to EVERYBODY'S ear canal. No adjusting or switching necessary. The earpiece also blocks enough sound that I can clearly hear every note while even mowing the lawn.

There are only two minor flaws: First, the cord is very thin and susceptible to damage and crimping. I recommend keeping a baggy or case with them because my pocket has broken a set already. Secondly, the earplug piece can come off or be removed over time/use. I recommend a single drop of super glue / medical glue between the soft piece and the grey base and they should last forever.

Excellent headphones - No longer effective to block out exterior sound

These are superb headphones. I've been buying them for years. Sometimes I've damaged the cable. Sometimes lost or otherwise damaged them. The sound to me is as good as far more expensive ones.

However, on this occasion it seems the design must have been changed in some way because they are no longer as effective at noise cancelling. I use the previous set with and most exterior sound is muffled severely. Using the same cushions, i.e. the old ones with the new headphones exterior sounds come throgh.

I have boght these headphones for years not just for the quality, but because I can use them to cancel out exterior sounds. Now, maybe through some stupid paternalistic US law that defines how far I can cancel out exterior sounds they have become just good headphones, not useful to cancel out exterior sounds.

I'm looking for a solution.

Hope this is of help.

KOSS "The Plug"

These headphones are the best fitting in my ears, after trying several, more"conventional" in-ear types. Their sound is loud and clear, best separated from outer noise by the spongy plug.
The contact inserting and disconnecting needs a bit attention, because of its shortness, and difficultly gripping with the fingers, to avoid pulling it by the cord.
Bottom line - excellent quality and fair price.

absolutely unparalleled performance against top brand names!

I've never found another like (the plug)that performs ,more over affordable I've tried other plugs with this type of design like Dr Dre and Bose and you just can't beat this headset. I've let other people try them and they were sold on this product. They are unbelievable in sound quality . Ive bought these since they hit the shelf and after they left the shelf and I had to go direct to their site. Which was even cheaper. I will never buy anything else but the plug a great patent .Read full review...
