Great item for hot days

My sainted wife and I bought this on a whim. we have an ice cream maker that has served us well for several decades. but we purchased this Kitchenaid ice cream maker for quick, small delights.
r>The initial churning was for a fruit ice concoction. Using over-ripe fruit, we peeled it - following directions accompanying this ice creamer. It was much simpler to use than our older one, and did not require ice and rock salt. Unfortunately, it required the mixing bowl to be placed in your freezer for 20+ hours before making ice cream or yogurt.

Waiting an extra day for this treat was hard to do, as well as finding a spot in our freezer for the mixing bowl. it should be noted that space is a premium in our fridge.

We did what the instructions dictated, and it was scrumptious!

We look forward to making more on some blazing summer days ahead.Read full review...

It's okay but a standard ice cream maker is better

I really wanted to try this attachment and was very disappointed after the first use. It took triple the time to set the ice cream to even a soft-serve consistency that was more like a runny shake. I followed all of the directions correctly, and freezing the container for 15 hours was also a nuisance. Then it requires complete thaw before washing and refereeing which is another day unable to use. I wish I could get my money back based on my overall disappointment. Read full review...

Awesome attachment!

I had to contact Kitchenaid for the adapter to fit my mixer but they sent it free of charge and it arrived in good time. I have made triple chocolate, strawberry and french vanilla ice cream thus far. Each patch has been the best I have tasted! Easy to make, easy to clean and the best ice cream! Two thumbs way up!Read full review...

Love my ice cream maker

There's nothing like fresh ice cream! Tried our new attachment out this last weekend. Made french vanilla with crushed oreo cookies. It was delicious!

While make the ice cream was easy, be aware that you have to chill the ingredients you have mixed together for at least 8 hours in the fridge. Also, the actual ice cream bowl needs to be chilled in the freezer overnight before you can start making ice cream.

So, if you need ice cream NOW, you'll have to be patient. Once the mixed ingredients were poured into the bowl, it takes the KitchenAid run on setting 1 for about 15-20 min.

The ice cream is like soft serve, or better yet, a delicious milk shake. So, if you like hard ice cream, you will need to return it back to the freezer for some hours. As long as you know the time it's going to take to make, you can plan around it.

I can hardly wait to make CHOCOLATE ice cream!!!

Easy to use, quick results, lacks a bit of instruction

Makes soft-serve ice cream in about 20 minutes. Freeze it and you can have hard ice cream. Instructions were a little lacking. I expected a more sturdy connection to my KitchenAid instead of just slipping an attachment on (with no type of lock) that you think could easily fall off if it weren't being held in place by the pressure of it being closed and contact with the bowl. That is what confused me at first. The fact that the blade attachment will "break away" when the ice cream gets too tough to churn is a nice feature so it won't wear down the motor.Read full review...

Works Great!

Just got my ice cream maker. My granddaughter and I made ice-cream this weekend and we had a great time doing it. We both loved the strawberry ice cream! We used to do a lot of things together and it been awhile since we last did something together. This has brought us closer together again as she is15 years old now. We both had a great experience and loved the ice cream!! I would recommend this product to everyone!Read full review...

Great item

I bought this because my husband has cancer and is not supposed to eat sugar. With this I can make sugar free ice cream. It works great and is easy to use. I just leave it in the freezer so it is ready whenever I want to make some ice cream.Read full review...

Best ice cream

It was so easy to use and I made the best, creamiest vanilla ice cream! In just a short 20 minutes it was ready to eat! It’s nice knowing there are no additives added and use only pure ingredients! I highly recommend making your own ice cream. After a short while it was back in my freezer for next time!Read full review...

A little epoxy fixes the faults with this.

I bought this used. Upon receipt it was obvious that it had leaked in transit. Not a lot, but enough that when the leak dried it left residue that was visible. Over the course of a few days I discovered the leak was in the same place that others had complained of it leaking, that is, around the pin for the larger bowl lift mixers. I stood it on its side with that pin pointing up for a few days to be sure the area was clean and dry. I mixed up some epoxy and dabbed it around that pin making sure I had good contact all around that pin, and let the epoxy cure. The leak is gone, and I'm very happy with the bowl. The mixer head is held on with rubber feet. They come off when removing the head; I epoxied them too. now everything is fine..Read full review...

Good for a single small batch of ice cream

I read several reviews prior to purchasing and made sure the one I bought had the large drive assembly (see photo) as it appears the small one is known to break easily. I also made sure when washing the bowl that I allowed it to come to room temperature and washed it by hand as directed. This avoids the top seal around the outer and inner bowls from cracking causing the internal liquid to leak out which many people have experienced. The only disadvantages are the small 1.5 qt. size, needing enough space in the freezer for the bowl and it must freeze overnight (minimum 15 hours) before use. Since the bowl needs to freeze overnight only one small batch of ice cream can be made in a day.Read full review...
