Boy's Favorite

I rented this movie for my 4 yr old son. We watched it as a family and he was enthralled through the entire movie. It had enough action to keep his attention and at the same time taught some basic science concepts. The adults were very entertained as well. My son continued to talk about the movie for weeks after we had to return it. So, it is now part of our home collection. From mountaintops to mining caves to volcanic tubes to the dinosaur tromping utopia at the center of the earth, this movie has beautiful and exciting scenery and effects.Read full review...

A wonderful remake - Up-to-Date and interesting Effects

Over the past 30 years, I've seen on film, many attempts to capture the nuance of this story. Even though this version leaves many things unanswered, the cleanness, originality, and plot flow, all makes up to its critics.

Bringing the past, present, and future all together made a good deal of sense. The writers of this movie made great strides trying to respect the author, Jules Verne and his contributions to man-kind through numerous inventions and discoveries.

More ingenious to the story, was the living man-eating plants, the huge piranha
fish in the underworld sea, and the levitating rocks. The tension was not to much but yet just enough to allow you to care for the characters. Frasier was excellent in this movie. A must see and one to own.Read full review...

One of the Best Movies We've Seen!

We don't care what any paid reviewer has to say about this film...We absolutely love this movie! In fact, we saw it in 3D in the theater and put it on our "Must Get/Own" list. Unfortunately, the 3D version on the disk is not as good as that seen in the theater (different technology), but we love that the "A" side of the disk has both the widescreen (theatrical) version and the full frame version to choose from. Some scenes (dino and carnivorous plants scenes, especially) may be a little scary for the very young, but this is great for families to enjoy. We especially like the tasteful way that Max's discovery was done. Excellent acting, as well, by all in the cast.

We love this film so much that we've bought extra copies to give out as friendship gifts to others!

In our opinion, this version of "Journey" is the best film version of the story done to date!

Fun action film for kids - disappointing for Verne fans

It was a fun film - I saw it in the theater with my kids and they loved it, largely due to the special effects. The story preserves some aspects of Verne's classic tale, but too much in here is simply beyond ridiculous - no way it could really happen that way. Too much disbelief to suspend results in an excess of eye-rolling from the adult viewer. In short, it's a good choice for kids, but for adults it pales in comparison to the book - and even to the original 1959 film.Read full review...
