Still a good choice for a cheap upgrade
An old workstation with twin E5345 processors runs fine under Win 7. Not good for the latest games, but perfectly adequate for most other uses.

Recommend this CPU
I love the product / CPU since it has the power I am looking for for an affortable price. That said it is important to look out for the low price. Many people trying to sell this product above it's value. A lot of companies are selling used bulk equipment to reseller which are trying to sell each product by itself. Recommanded price is ~65 US dollar.
two processors on a dual socket board will give you 8 cores which are a great start for virtualiztion on esxi (free product). Make sure you have enough ram and do not settle for 1gb modules since they require lots of wattage and get hot.
Enjoy this product ... Like I do.Read full review...
4 cores, 8M cache, runs cool, Intel quality. Perfect!!!
The Intel Xeon E5345 is the perfect MP processor for my needs: It is a quad core, has plenty of cache, and runs very cool. I have 2 in my server and it works flawlessly. nowadays it is not too expensive either, so for a value server it is perfect!
My server is a Dell Precision 690 Workstation with 2 of these chips, 16GB of ECC PC2 DDR-SDRAM, and 1 TB of disk space. I payed very little money for this, and these chips are 5 years old and work just fine. Intel is for quality.
If you can find a good deal, which is very common, don't hesitate to buy these if it is what you need for a workstation or a server. These Xeons will not fail you.Read full review...
Good for 2006 Mac Pro
Great processor for upgrading a Mac Pro 1,1 to 2,1 on a tight budget, works like a charm.

nice i really like it
I bought this items because it is faster then mine 51xx series and has more cache and my dell uses only 51xx and 53xx series processors. I like it for it has good packaging anti static,it is faster then my core i5 (based on my experience)...The price is very good, aldo it is an old technology it is very good for servers..Read full review...
Solid processors for little investment.
Great technology for older systems. Works good as an upgrade from 5150 cpus as they share the same motherboard. Just be sure to upgrade your BIOS firmware to the latest A08. Speed is stable for servers and workstations that require the system to be on constantly. Extremely solid performance, just be cautious that these cpus will produce higher voltage. Good ventilation to keep them cool is essential to maintain performance at it's peek.Read full review...
