Interesting buy

Bought the game for my wife's birthday because she loves Indiana Jones so much (and never heard of the game). The walk throughs in the beginning are a bit vague if you don't play too many RPG. My only complaints would have to be that you are supposed to play right-handed. I'm a lefty and it's a bit more difficult. The other is that the up/down/left/right controls on the top of the remote really move the camera around easily. Sometimes that's good, but bad if you accidentally push it. The price seems fair considering the cost of games nowadays (from anywhere). The shipping costs also helped factor into the reason I purchased the game.Read full review...

Challenging & entertaining

A little bit of a learning curve but once you get going the game is fun. Good graphics & clear narration.

Awesome game

This game is really fun. What I like about it is that there are so many different scenes that you get to visit and things to drive and fly and blow up. I also like it cause you have to use your brain on some levels. The controls are pretty good. There are times when you'll be trying to do something and it doesn't work right away and you're swinging the remote like a mad man/woman. But all in all it's pretty good. I'm not a hard core gamer by any means, so maybe someone like that would get bored, but I was engrossed in the game. The only bad part of the game is the short clips or stories that play in between levels. If you fail the level, then you have to watch the stuff all over again and there is no way to skip it. But, I just look at it as incentive to pass the dang thing. In the beginning levels the game walks you through the moves with the remote. This is great if you're playing the game for the first time, because you don't even need to read the manual. But, I won't go back and play those levels again in the future, cause you'll have the walk through all over again which is annoying. There is also a co-op mode which allows you to play with a friend. Player 1 is Jones jr. and player 2 is Jones sr.. This is a really cool mode where you really have to work together to get through the levels. My only complaint about that mode is that it is too short. The main games length was perfect for me. There are also some modes you can unlock by collecting hidden artifacts in the game or completing what's called glory moves. Glory moves are moves listed in Indy's journal that you can try to complete during the game. Moves may include anything like taking out three bad guys by using your whip to bring a shelf down on top of them, or shooting 3 planes down on a certain level, ect. These unlock modes where you can have a dogfight in a plane or tank fight with a friend. Another mode is a contest to see who can take down the most bad guys. I would recommend this game to those who are an Indiana Jones fan, or you just like adventure. This game brings it all. Be prepared for some movement though, this game can get you breathing. But don't be to scared off, I'm disabled and still had a great time with this game and have beaten it.Read full review...

I Would Play This Twice (And More)!

I loved every moment of this game, from the beginning cinematic to the final ending.

Most of the time, I was using the Wii Nunchuck to move Indiana and the Wii remote to attack both with his fists and with his whip.

There were occasional moments where I had to do something unusual, such as push a wall down with his shoulder. I then would have used the two in conjunction to push forward three times and knock the object down.

The scenes that were my favorite were when Indiana wasn't simply walking around but doing something really cool, such as riding an elephant through Istanbul (while still in control) or having a gunfight with the Germans using some boxes as cover.

Some of the downfalls I had were that you continually had to listen to the cinematic or tutorial when replaying an area. Although it does keep the game fresh, it is impossible to skip.

At certain points, it can be very difficult to overcome an area. The enemies will outnumber you if they get the chance. It is very possible to be attacked by five or more enemies at one time. There is no easy way around this except to fight them or to run. Of course, running only makes them chase you and fighting makes them attack you. However, it is realistic considering Indiana is alone in most of the fights.

The cinematic scenes are what really bring this game to life. It is worth every moment and truly gives this game a special place in my collection.

2 for 1 and great Indiana Jones stories

I actually bought this as much for Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis as for the main game. I watched others play it quite a bit back in high school, and always wanted to play it. I soon discovered there are actually three paths to go through it and they're quite different. I'll review the two games separately:

-Staff Of Kings-
The main game is driven by excellent (for Wii) graphics and a great story. First thing's first, Harrison Ford's likeness is used, though he didn't voice Indy, but fear not: the actor sounds very close. The game tells you when to use the various abilities with onscreen prompts, and it's a fairly on rails path (which could be good or bad, depending on what you like). The replayability is certainly there as each location has several Fortunes (hidden treasures not usually on the beaten path) to collect and Glories to obtain (similar to Bond moments in recent games and/or when certain criteria is met, such as not getting hurt while fighting a boss character). It's kind of short on just a playthrough, but there's a whole other game here...

-Fate Of Atlantis-
The first thing I noticed was how far graphics have come. Once you get past that, there is a long, great adventure ahead. The version of this game contained here is not the original release, but one that was voice acted. The actor here doesn't sound as much like the gentleman in Staff, but also similar. It's a mostly puzzle solving point and click game, and fair warning: there are no hints as to how to proceed. As I said before there are three paths to go through the middle of the game (most of it): Solo (:D) with a choice of Wits (more puzzles) or Fists (more fighting), or Team (with a female that's part of the story). That adds value since you could play the same game three ways.

Overall, since you are getting two games in one (only with the Wii version) and if you like Indiana Jones as a character, this is a must buy.

Super fun older game

This game is a blast so far. It is an old game and the graphics and gameplay can't even come close to BotW or TotK. However, it is a fun story and a blast to play. There is on part where you fly a plane through a canyon that was just an absolute blast.Read full review...

Finally! A REAL Indiana Jones Game!

For the past years, Lucasarts has tried and failed at making a good Indiana Jones games (Emperor's Tomb came close, Lego Indiana Jones was not in the same genre.) Staff of Kings (SoF for short), despite the motion sensing (which is awesome!), Let's you do everything you thought Indiana Jones can do. Shimmy, shoot punch, but no swimming (bummer). This game would have been really great on the Xbox 360 or PS3 because it has good games like Tomb Raider, so Indy could do much more. Overall, Indy has finally made the spotlight with SoF.Read full review...

Indiana Jones and the staff of Kings

I can't believe it. They really talk in this game. Some games just mumble and the words show at the bottom of the screen. This game is awesome. From fighting to flying, to driving around in a army truck. Great game. Best decision I have made in a long time. I am very satisfied with my purchase....Just love it.Read full review...
