This is the album that combined Speed and Heaviness to create Heavy Metal.This is the first album with the amazing vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover. The album contains classics such as Speed King, and the Quasi-Prog Rock epic Child In Time. This album marks the 25th Anniversary of this historic album. It has been fully remastered and has the original single version of Black Night(which was formerly only present on the Mexican version of the LP or as a single), it also features Remixed versions of select songs by Roger Glover. As a bonus it also has a 24 page booklet filled with Liner Notes by Simon Robinson, interviews with band members, and pictures covering what happened to Deep Purple from 1969 to 1970.Read full review...

Deep Purple in Rock

If you even remotely like Deep Purples' Machinehead then you really need to check this record out.

.....the first incarnation of the Mach II lineup put out an outstanding record from start to finish NO FILLER HERE

you can tell that every song was played/recorded LOUDLY (but there is no distortion or buzzing----this a great sounding record)------you can really feel the energy and vibe of the band playing together come through your speakers

Speed King & Child in Time are the 'hits'-------but Hard Lovin Man Flight of the Rat and Living Wreck are stand out tracks as well

the bonus tracks/studio chatter are a nice addition (and put on the disc after the original 7 tracks) but really all you need is the original (it's a classic for a reason)

What a JOY!

I grew up with this album and lost it a long time ago, what a great late 60s English Rock bands. It's funny Child in Time i could rememberin my minds ears, but unitl I hled the CD in my hand did all the other songs lyrics mistically come to mind.
