Bad use of lampshade as packing material; detracts from quality of product

Comes in a compact box because the shade is flexible plastic and is rolled around some of the components of the lamp. Shade is IMPOSSIBLE to unroll completely, and because it is so tightly wound around the components it is protecting, it is IMPOSSIBLE to form into a lampshade shape and put together according to the instructions. We ended up getting a SEPARATE 10" lampshade that was held in place by the lightbulb we screwed into the socket; the enclosed lamp supports for the plastic shade were thus superfluous.
