4x6 color printer

These machines are fantastic, I own four. What we do as part of our Missions Trips to a village in the Mayan Jungle, is take family pictures. I can take a picture pull the compact flash card from my camera and make a 4x6 print in a couple of minutes. We than frame the picture and and hand the family the framed photo. When buying one a nice feature to look for is the ability to zoom in on the photos as it gives you some more cropping options. This print quality is the same and most use a HP 95 Ink cartridge that is readily available. If your planning on printing over 50 pictures you should have another ink cartridge with you.

For printing on the go I can't think of a better product.

Slow But Steady Wins The Race

First of all, I decided to buy this because I buy exclusively HP products when I can. We wanted a photo printer for our wedding because our gift to our guests was a photo of them with the bride and groom, given to them during the reception. It sounded like a good idea on paper, but the bride (me) ended up having to spend half of the reception upstairs away from the guests to print out a total of nine photos (I had to give blank frames to some guests with the promise I would get them their photos later because I just ran out of time). Not so great. Then, as if that weren't bad enough, even though I let the photos sit for a while in the air, half of them reacted to the glass and the ink ran and ruined the frames and caused me to have to scrap the frame and reprint the photos. This wouldn't have been so bad, but it took almost five minutes to print each photo so it dragged on and on and the guests were getting restless for me to come downstairs so we could cut the cake. In the end, they forgave me because the LOVED their photo/gifts, but this was the only glitch in our otherwise perfect day.

I had a bit of trouble at first when the printer came, but HP's great service came to the rescue and helped me sort it out (after a two week delay because they lost the original order). The did next day air it to me because the wedding was in three days and the replacement had yet to arrive. Actually a trip to Radio Shack finally figured things out, but who's counting? Tip: this does not come with the cord that connects it to your computer. Only one that connects to your camera. I was able to use the cord from another HP printer I have, so that saved the day.

So my final opinion? It's a great little portable printer. We took it to the hotel with us on the honeymoon and printed out a bunch of photos for our scrapbook. Time wasn't such an issue then, so we didn't care as much that it prints slower than molasses in winter. The print quality is good when the photo doesn't run all over the glass in the frame. I suggest playing with your software a bit. Trial and error helped me figure out the best way to print them. I did not use the software that came with the printer. It's pretty awful. I already had it because I got it with another of my HP printers and only use it for certain things. It is limited and tends to lock up my computer or go really really slow, and added to the slow printer, we'd be retired before we got our photos printed.

So buy this if you want a decent little printer at a reasonable cost. Learn how to speak Indian if you need help, though. The support center is out-sourced to India and some speak decent English and some don't.

Don't order this if you need photos in a flash. You won't get fast photos. It just isn't gonna happen. The paper loads weird sometimes, too, no matter how you try to straighten it out, so some photos come out slightly cattywompus. Other than all of this, it's a great printer. good printer and versitile

it is small and compact prints very high quality photos in short time, is able to receive photos directly from camera via usb port or memory cards. Draw backs are only reads 32 meg cards and you need to get the larger ink refill to get a good amount of pictures from the cartrage it comes with a #95 cartrage but you should replace it with a number 97 cartrage to double the amount of pictures you can get out of it also you can buy the battery pack and charger for it so it can travel with you to parties and holidays to print out those pictures right away for friends or relitives and you get many pictures from battery before it needs charged againRead full review...

Easy to use and prints great photos

I bought this for a gift for my Aunt. She has memory problems and needed something easy to use with very little things to remember. She really loves it. It works well and she is never in a hurry for the print, so, speed is not problem.Read full review...

Slow but steady....

I'm having a party and wanted to be able to take pix, and print them out right there on the scene, so I ordered this printer. It gets the job done, and you get pretty good photos out of it, but you have to convince the paper to go into the feeder so the printer can actually grab it. It takes a while to actually print the picture, but once the picture comes, it's a good product.
