An instant classic!

With a band-themed music game -- Green Day Rock Band being no exception -- it's too easy to say "if you like the band Green Day, you'll like the game. If you hate Green Day, this probably won't change your mind." But this game presents more than just a simple Rock Band expansion with new songs. Just like The Beatles Rock Band, the featured group injects their personality into everything from the menus and in-game performances to the unlockable live concert footage. Though, also like The Beatles Rock Band, Green Day fails to try anything truly innovative. Still, developer Harmonix proves that they not only know how to craft a fine music game, they know how to pick just the right subject matter, as well.Read full review...

A must for Green Day obsessives, not so much for everyone else

I've been a huge Green Day fan since the mid-nineties, so I was pretty excited to get my hands on a copy of this. It contains full songs from Dookie and American Idiot, as well as half the 21st Century Breakdown album and a couple of songs from the other three Reprise albums (Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning). The gameplay is pretty much what you'd expect from a Rockband game; nothing spectacular, but immensely fun. Two things disappoint, however - Firstly, the 'career' mode is pretty dull. It just involves playing all the songs in a roughly chronological order, with no cut scenes or story segments as was featured in Beatles Rockband (which was a great little feature of that game and is sorely missed from this edition). Second, the musical focus is very much on the last couple of albums; it would have been great to feature more songs from Nimrod and Insomniac.

Overall, I would say that if you're a massive Green Day fan like me then you will get a lot of enjoyment from this game. However, if you're only an occasional listener then you might be left wanting. Most of the singles are on here, though, so you'll still enjoy yourself for a short time before getting bored and sticking another Rockband game on.

Best RockBand Game Ever!

I love playing Rockband but only a handful of my favorite songs are scattered across the series. This one has the entire American Idiot album, which I LOVE, plus Good Riddance, Longview, and Basketcase. There's plenty more beyong what ive mentioned but these are the ones i really like.Read full review...

Great Band, Great Game

I really like this game based solely on the fact that it is Green Day. I like playing both Guitar Hero and Rock Band (the difference between the two doesn't really make that much of a difference to me) so the addition of songs I know and love so a game I already played was really exciting. The one problem I have found is that when playing band specific games such as Beatles, Green Day, Metallica and so on is that the lack of variance in the artist gets to be a bit monotonous. By the end of the game I have gotten a little sick of listening to the same band over and over again and have to stop listening to them for a little while. This is not to say that the band is any worse but I just get sick of it. My recommendation is to play this game in smaller doses, taking a break to at least play other versions of the game. I would definitely recommend buying it if you at all enjoy listening to Green Day because it is really fun singing and playing songs with your friends that you have sung/air guitared to in the past anyways.Read full review...

Billie, Mike, and Tre want you to go buy this amazing game!

Green Day: Rock Band is probably the best Rock Band game I have played. They choice an excellent song set. The graphics look like you are staring at them like they are right in front of you. My favourite part of the game is all the bonus content you get throughout Career Mode, which depicts photos and videos of the band. Overall this game is a 10/10. I would recommend this to anyone.Read full review...

Good game (as everything what Harmonix does)

Very good game. It's a shame there won't be more downloadable content.
The possibility of export songs and keep enjoying them in Rock Band 1, 2 and 3 (with vocal harmonies) is a very interesting idea.
Anyway, I recommend it for people who likes a little the band, not just the strict old school fans.

This game is AWESOME!

It's basically like any other Rock Band, but it has 3 amazing albums.
If you love Green Day you will love this game.

Career mode is awesome, you unlock pictures and interviews of them on tour and stuff. And challenges, some where you have to play an album from start to finish, which I haven't done yet because my arm is so sore from the other challenges. lol.

It's simple, if you enjoy guitar hero / rock band and you like green day you will like this game.

Enjoying this game

I thought I'd like about 13 songs on this disk, but there's nearly 20 great tunes that have gotten airtime on the radio. If you've been a fan of any of their albums, you should buy this. If you import the songs into RB 3 ($10) you can delete the songs you don't like to remove some of the clutter in your library. Well worth up to $30 - with the import fee it'll end up being $40 which is about $2 per popular song - the same price as the downloadable songs for RB 3.Read full review...
