Job is just one of the exciting books in Swindoll's "Great Lives From God's Word" series. As in his other biographies he portrays his subject, in this instance, Job, within the culture of his time. Swindoll's research into the history of biblical life makes this a wonderfully understandable book. I thought the idea of reading a book on Job would be terribly depressing, but in fact it turned out to be a wonderful book of encouragement. By using Job, Swindoll shows us that if we remain faithful to God as we suffer our own trials, God always remains faithful and our relationship with Him will be strengthened. I like the fact that the author, Swindoll, did an excellent job of compiling data on a character study of such an awesome man of God. Job is so much like us today. Despite horrendous tragedies that befell his life, He stayed faithful to God. There is a lot of insight into the life, family, and attitudes of Job.
