One Of The Best Racing Games Ever.

I have been playing this game time and time again ever since it originally released over a decade ago. This game is fat with content. Over 700 Cars, 51 tracks (if you count reverse tracks) and the graphics are like early ps3 level. This game pushes the PS2 to it's maximum ability. A game releasing today with this much content day 1 is unheard of. You'll be impressed with the amount of gameplay this will give you.

My only gripes are the outdated AI you race against, they are just "ok" they just follow the invisible driving line. There's only 6 cars in a race, but this is due to the limitations of the PS2.Read full review...

Gran Turismo 4 (Playstation 2)

This is one of the most advanced racing simulation games ever made. Possible the best. This is the 4 installment of this series. It gets better with each addition. With over 700 Different vechiles to drive and race. This game is for the beginner or the advanced. You can now change your oil to boost horsepower. Also added is the b-spec mode that lets you sit back and play director. Gran Turismo 4 also has a arcade mode to race head to head with your friends. You must earn your drivers lisence's to race in simulation mode. Get all Silver and get a car. Get all gold in any lisence test and also get a car. Any racing enthusiasm will love this game. One of my favorite games as a kid

Of all the racing video games Gran Turismo is the most realistic making it especially fun. 4 in particular shows a major improvement in graphics and the soundtrack is one I can listen to day straight. Very happy to have this game back.Read full review...

Great Simulator - But The PS2 Can Only Go So Far

GT4 is a fantastic game (ahem*, sorry, a simulator)
This simulator has fantastic physics, a plethora of automobiles, an almost endless variety of tuning leaves an infinite (almost) combinations you can create.

The simulation is as close as you can get to reality - in "Gran Turismo Mode," you start with 10,000 Cr (Credits, or GT money; with it, you can buy cars, can tune your cars, etc). You win races - you get more Cr. Simple, right? Not really - the races are difficult in the beginning - you have a junk of a car, with barely any Cr, and you basically have to start from ashes. But that's the fun of GT4.

The major "con" of GT4, well it's not for GT4, rather the PS2. The PS2, even though revolutionary in graphics at its debut, is no where close to the graphic standards set by the PS3 and the 360 in the current HD Gaming Era. But I have to keep reminding myself that the game was released in Feb 2005 - it's coming close to 5 years upon its release.

Overall, I'm happy with GT4, and I plan on purchasing the PS3, and GT5 is one of the games (simulators) I'm promising myself to buy.Read full review...

Incredible value

It's great you can still play PS/1 games and enjoy them. If you have a young child, I would buy an older system and use games. They're simpler to play, and kids really like them.

Great Game, Awesome Graphics; 8/10

At first it was difficult to find my way around, and you can't transfer much from GT3 A-Spec. Overall, however, the graphics are amazing -- AMAZING; and the game play is very fun.

It is almost like playing a movie, the graphics are so good.

I do not like that I can't play with a view looking at the car, but that it has to be in the driver's seat. I like admiring the car I am driving as I drive it. Takes a lot of fun out for me.

I liked that I could play using my BMW 3-series that is also the same color and same wheels (almost) as the one I have in real life (I have HP Design Lightning wheels in real life).

I missed that there were a lot of models of cars that I'd like to drive in the game, that GT3 A-Spec had. But this game also had a lot of much newer models that had not yet even been manufactured when GT3 A-Spec was created.

BOTTOM LINE:
Get this game. You won't regret it. With the PS3 out though, this game is not worth more than $20.Read full review...

This is my favorite Playstation 2 game because of its replay value and endless driving scenarios. Gran Turismo 4 introduces bright and vivid graphics, new cars, and beautiful driving courses. You will get the same realistic driving simulation as the previous Gran Turismos, but this one gives you more options to customize your car as well as a more intuitive interface. Visit used car showrooms or go to different countries on the world map to buy exotic vehicles. I love almost everything about this game. I have played it for years pretty steadily and I have never tired of this game. A high powered engine, tuned suspension, and an open road are all you need for white knuckle excitement. The many various types of challenges and track conditions keep this game lively as well. I will find myself in phases of exploring the cars, setups, and tracks. It has Muscle Cars not only in the American Muscle but the vintage imports that I have read about including the blue bird and the old skylines. Granted this game is more for an adult taste, it isn't as animated and is more realistic in the fact that it takes patience to play but I prefer it over most of the non realistic racing games any day. GREAT GRAPHICS AND GAME

This is a great game!!!The race tracks are amazing, one second you're racing in Hong Kong,the next second you're racing in Paris!!!Its so cool!!There are about 50 race tracks in the game (somewhere in there. Oh yeah and the cars, WOOOOOOWWW!!!!Every detail, every light on the car stands out for itself. And don't get all "awww, there's no more cars to buy," well forget that idea there are more than 200 cars in the game!!!The only bad thing is that when you get to the extreme races it gets really hard. I've had it for about a year and I'm only about 50% in. You can get a good start in the beginning by getting a good car with good horse power, like 200-300 mph and just save up your money then get a better car. But overall its a great game, anyone who's looking for the closest experience to driving should get this game,trust me!!!Read full review...

Best Game of the Series, now in HD. Amazing price for the budget gamer!

What was and probably still is the greatest racing simulator for the Playstation 2, Gran Turismo 4 is all about handling and physics. even back to the original Gran Turismo the car handling and physics are what made this series stand out above the rest. now on the second generation console. Gran Turismo's vehicles are sharper, brighter and downright stunning. Familiar tracks and environments return with an updates look, but keep the same feel. Beautiful Mountain scenes, narrow city streets give this game the sense of speed it has been yearning for. HD graphics some thought were impossible are now available.
