If you need stout thumb picks, these are for you!

For anyone who wants a stout thumb pick that won't easily slip off as you're playing, GGP-8s are the best I have found. Mind you, I don't bluegrass pick with them as they come right out of the box.... my own use of them is to take the brand new, GGP-8 picks to the workbench, saw off the playing tips, file/sandpaper the cuts smooth, then superglue thinner triangular picks of my choice onto the remaining GGP-8 bodies. In other words, I use the strength and durability of these thumb picks as a starting point to create custom picks that allow me to rapidly strum in both directions without having to support the pick with my index finger or worry that the pick will sail off across the room the first time I do an upstroke.

Even when one of the thinner picks that I had superglued onto a GGP-8 either wears out or breaks, I'm usually able to remove it from its mount then glue a new thin pick in its place. That's good economy, and it's rare that one of the stout thumb mounts (I'm reluctant to still call my modified GGP-8s "thumb picks") actually breaks. A typical one lasts me for several years.

I have not found any other product that meets my specific needs, and my guess is that many musicians find the GGP-8 ideal just as it is out of the box. Highly recommended.Read full review...

Best thumbpick ever

I first learned how to play guitar using a thumbpick some 47 years ago. For fingerstyle guitar and bluegrass banjo the thumbpick is integral to the sound. I worked in a music store for a number of years and had a chance to try a lot of different picks with a lot of different guitars. These are definitely the best thumbpicks I've ever used.
