a used Garmin

everything came as it was supposed to, and I use it faithfully as a home care nurse. I had to return another one for poor directions. The only drawback was I lost the ability to get lifetime maps as the second owner, but it had been recently uploaded. A good productRead full review...

I like Garmin

I have owned a a garmin gps for over 6 years now . I bought this unit to replace one that I damaged the "digitizer" on, and nobody can fiz because Garmin does not sell parts for it. This one came with lifetime maps and cost about one tenth the price of the older one. This one has larger screen than my other one and simple easy to follow menu make easy to use.
Although I'm really disappointed in their lack of product support, I like their technology better than a Magellan that I bought and returned because it was impossible to do some of the simple things that I can do with the Garmin.

Perfect screen for me

Love the large fonts and having them to the right side, not at the bottom like the others. Map not a large area but that's ok because the size of the unit is small enough so as to be placed in a manner that the road is not blocked from view. Owned identical one for 8 years. Screen got a little dim on that one. This one is bright enough to read in daytime.Read full review...

Print yourself back up directions!!

I really enjoy the touch screen feature, also the graffics are wonderful. The thing I dislike most about this is you can't see early enough what your next step is. For instance I was merging from one freeway to another and at the moment I get on the 2nd freeway I also had to take the first exit, which was all the way over to my right side and I was in the far left lane. There was not enough notice before so I missed the exit, having to go off course with this GPS was a nightmare!!! The recaluculating was rediculous, it was sending me the wrong way! I just like a gps system where I can be one step ahead each time, but it is a nice item. Another thing, is the maps need to be updated. It doesn't even have a street listed at all, that has been next to our house for at least 7 years!!! Now that's just outdated in my opinion. Kinda worries me, if they don't have that street, what else are they missing???Read full review...

My Garmin arrived quickly earlier then expected.Set up was super easy.Hook up to dash easy also.It is easy to read, the voice command easy to hear. One complaint is sometimes it does take the road less taken but I have never been lost and it gets me home.We also use it for resteraunts mostly and shopping also this feature is great too.Read full review...

Why I bought a new GPS and how it compared to an older version

I purchased this device because an older version was out of date and the 1300LM with lifetime updates was less expensive than the cost of upgrading the older Nuvi. As I used the new device, I noticed that it lacked some of the features available on the older unit such as the display of the speed limit. I also miss the voice of the older unit. Other than that, I am generally pleased with the 1300LM.Read full review...

Software not as good as previous Nuvi, do not recommend.

I am disappointed with this unit. The hardware is fine but the software is often too slow to handle traffic situations.
I purchased it to replace the larger-screen Nuvi which I had for 3 years to my satisfaction, but instead of updating the maps (and paying for that) I decided to buy this complete unit.
Too often when a freeway ahead splits in 2 or 3 directions I get the instructions too late eventho I slow down my speed 'waiting' for a voice. My previous unit was better, I followed it blindly, successfully.
This unit constantly recalculates (which takes time) so by the time I move the car in the direction instructed, it recalculates (again) and sends me into a different direction.
When I enter a shopping mall on street A and after shopping, start the car the Nuvi will direct me to drive/return to street B as if I knew where street B is!
The unit was on sale and cheap (with lifetime map updates) but I'll probably go back to using my 3-year old Nuvi (=better/more reliable software). Not worth it; dont bother.

Garmin nuvi 1300LM good unit with lifetime maps

The screen is large enough to be seen without taking up too much windshield space. Map update was quick and easy. Item works as it should. The only downside is it does not come with a memory card to update all the maps at the same time. I would recommend this item.Read full review...

Good deal, easy to use, free maps!,

I've used this GPS for several weeks now and it is absolutely great. The voice is loud and clear and the maps are accurate and detailed. It acquires satellites quickly, even with tall buildings nearby or trees overhead . It's easy to program and the onscreen menus are convenient. It is thin, light, portable and the screen is big. Very pleased with this GPS navigator and the idea of having lifetime & traffic updates. A great tool for our travels!Read full review...
