For me, this is the sound.

I've played a lot of overdrive and distortion pedals. This pedal fits right between overdrive and distortion, in my opinion. And it covers both beautifully. Perhaps not to the extremes (metal fuzz not possible with this pedal alone), but I absolutely love the tone. I played through an Ibanez TS-9 with one of the AnalogMan mods for extra beef, and I just got tired of the trebly-ness of the Tubescreamer, even with the mod.
