Easily worth the cost

I have this antenna installed approx. 25 feet off the ground. I live 60 miles north of West Palm beach transmitters and pick up all the channels from that area at all times. At night, I can receive all the Orlando stations which are 110 miles away. Sometimes I can get stations from Tampa and Ft Myers at night also, 130 miles, but not reliably. It serves me well by getting everything from West Palm. Keep in mind, Florida is totally flat with no terrain blocking my signal, so what you get will vary if you live around hills.

The rotator is important to aim where the signals are, but hard to tell where it is pointing unless you have someone outside telling you where it is. I had an extra security camera to aim at the antenna and I can see where it is pointing.

It seems to be holding up Ok. It is always in the sun and we have had a few storms and it still works for a couple months so far. For the cheap price it works great and it is small and easy to put up.

HDTV Outdoor Amplified Antenna

This antenna is not suitable for outdoor use as the plastic will break in high winds & probably deteriorate quickly from UV rays. It is best placed in an attic or somewhere where it is sheltered. The plastic bracing of antenna elements is very flimsy & one has already broken. The antenna rotor feature is very poorly designed. Each time you press the rotor button you do not know which direction it might travel. Sometimes it continues in say a clockwise direction while in other cases it alternates between clockwise & counterclockwise for just a short movement of antenna. Point is it does not operate like the old Channel Master control that was common many years ago. At least with the Channel Master, it had a moving dial on control box that mirrored the direction of antenna. With this one, you do not know unless you are looking at antenna Still, it provides better reception than rabbit ears. In my case, I do not need to move antenna to get most of the channels. If that is something you will need to do, be aware of issue with antenna control. Read full review...

Great Little Antenna

I have been using this type of antenna for the past 4 1/2 years. They are very small and lightweight. Very easy to put together. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to put together is all. I get 54 channels and I cannot complain as I like to watch westerns and I get plenty to watch. I am very pleased with the antenna and the channels I get. I tell everyone about my antenna as I live in a rural area and most people who have OTA and uses other antennas does not get as many channels as I do. I would recommend this item to anyone. Better than expected!

The first thing you notice as you remove the parts from the box is how lightweight it is. While this is a plus for installation and mounting, it also means that the parts are delicate. I would recommend mounting this unit indoors, such as in the attic, or in a protected or covered area if outdoors.

Use care and take your time assembling the unit, don't force the parts or over-tighten the screws, and you'll have no problems. The instructions are clear (only five steps) and easy to follow. Though my unit came one screw short, the procedure was painless and only took about ten minutes.

Once assembled the unit showed it's power by picking up sixteen stations, all clear and strong, while sitting by the TV, even before mounting on a pole. Where I live, that's much better than I expected.

Overall, I would certainly recommend this unit to anyone who wants to pick up some local stations and avoid the high cost of other TV services. If the unit were made a little tougher, it would be excellent.

HDTV Amplified Antenna

Last year I drop my cable TV and purchased the Channel Master Outdoor Non-Amplified Yagi Type Antenna. The antenna worked well but some of the channels didn't come in good because they are in a different location. I purchased this antenna because it could rotate so I could point in the directions of the other towers. To my surprise all the station came in great without moving it with the remote control. Very happy with the antenna, and the price is great. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm not sure how it will hold up. Time will tell.

Thank you,
Don

Only needs.......!

Antenna is great for picking up broadcast stations. I live in a townhouse complex with a homeowners association and they refused to let me mount the antenna on roof. I have it on a shelf in my attached garage and it works fine. BUT...... when I want to rotate antenna from living room viewing area, I cannot see where the antenna is pointed or how far it has rotated. This antenna would be GREAT if it had some kind of indicator on control box that showed direction it was pointed at. I worry I might rotate it more than 360 degrees in one direction and pull coaxial cable loose. It DOES pick up stations really well.Read full review...

Channels-a-Plenty

Did not even have to point it to get an amazing # of channels. Easy assembly and quick installation.

If wishing could make it so improvement suggestions:

The remote is infra-red, so you can't be outside looking at the antenna and controlling the direction. Inside, you can control the rotation but there is no indication of the direction the antenna is pointing. So, a radio controlled remote and/or a direction indicator would greatly improve the product. Otherwise it take two people to adjust.

Bottom Line:

It brings in channels we never knew were there. Seems to be a great deal for the price. Interested to see how the plastic housing will hold up to sun and weather. The antenna control base signal amplifier when switched on makes a wild difference in the # of channels available. Happy Customer!

Good but not perfect

I had tried a number of different antennas that claimed to be the "best", but we live in a fairly hilly location with the closest major tower approximately 120 miles away. They advertise this antenna as having a 150 mile range. I did manage to pick up a few more stations, but they are very weak and drift occasionally. The infrared remote is virtually useless. I mounted the unit in the attic directly above the TV, but the remote will not operate the motor. It works when I'm actually in the attic within a coupe feet and point directly at the receiver box, but loses the signal even when I'm just on the other side of a 2" x 8" roof truss. In addition, there is no indication of the direction the antenna is facing, so you almost have to be looking at it anyway. As with any antenna, elevation is crucial to performance, but I did not want it on top of my roof. I really don't believe it would last very long outside anyway, so it is mounted as high inside the attic as possible.Read full review...

ANTENNA WITH OUT PAYING CABLE

This is a very good antenna. I get 50 channels out of 65 available to my area.

Each person/buyer of this antenna will have different number of available channels in their location. We get english, vietnamese, spanish, chinese and japanese channels.

It would have been better if I had gotten all english channels. I can't speak/understand those languages. Should've taken them in high school. That is why only 4 stars.

You might get more english in your area.

Research Before You Buy

I read all of the accolades this antenna was getting and decided to just go ahead and buy one. That was a big mistake on my part. I should have done more research as to wether it would or could pick up a signal in my area. I live in the Eastern Ozarks of Missouri. By a direct line from where I live to the nearest TV towers, it is well within the 150 mile range of this antenna. We are about 90 miles from three different cities where the towers are located. Had I checked on the government website, I would have learned that there is no way to get a signal that these particular antennas can pick up. These steep hills are just too much far the signal to reach the antenna. If I had a tower tall enough then I probably could have gotten a signal. I would say if you are in an area where there are no obstructions between you and the source of the signals then they are most likely a great value. However out here in the middle of these hills they simply will not work. So, I'm not saying stay away from them, I'm just saying you should make sure there are signals where you live before you buy one. The guys on E-bay where I bought the antenna are great. They were fast with there shipping and great to allow a return after they learned I couldn't use it. So five full stars for them.Read full review...
