I had a small problem, but figured it out

I had a bit of trouble getting the piece to lock into the slot until I realized I needed to put a spacer on top of the base so I could apply more pressure to the top.

The base isn't long enough to lock into place. About 1/8" too short, Support rod fits good, if it would only lock into place.
