Very sturdy and useful item
Actually I have never owned one. I borrowed my son's to trim a bush that got out of hand. They work great. But I accidently broke his, one of the arms slide out of the long arm and I did not see it and the end broke. I put it back together and it still works fine. But feeling guilty about it I bought my son another one. The cutting hook on this one is a little different I am not sure if it will be as sturdy as the other one. The bade is not tempered (not sure if the more expensive ones are) so it can get nicked easily and should be sharpened after each use, i use a diamond sintered cutoff blade to dress the edge, you want to keep it sharp, works great. I didn't want to spend more money, but if i were inclined, i would purchase a compound action anvil looper; this looper is a good value, just make sure you properly maintain the blade.Read full review...

For cutting branches up to about 1", they work great. Anything thicker than that requires a fair bit of "elbow grease". Over all, they work great. How can you go wrong with the name Fiskars.
