FIRST DO NO HARM

I SAW THIS TRUE STORY MOVIE YEARS AGO AND WAS INCENSED AT THE "MEDICAL TREATMENT" THIS EPILEPTIC BOY ENDURED ALONG WITH HIS FAMILY WHO WERE DOING EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO HELP HIM. WHEN HIS MOTHER'S RESEARCH LED HER TO A SPECIAL DIET THAT HAD WORKED FOR MANY CHILDREN WITH EPILEPSY, I WAS SHOCKED THAT THE DOCTORS REFUSED TO RELEASE HER SON FROM THE HOSPITAL INSTEAD DEMANDING RISKY SURGERY THAT COULD HAVE LEFT THIS BOY PERMANENTLY BRAIN DAMAGED. THE PARENTS SEEMED TO HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO KIDNAP THEIR OWN SON OUT OF THE HOSPITAL IN ORDER TO TAKE HIM TO A SPECIALIST AT THE MAYO CLINIC. WHEN I SAW THIS MOVIE THE FIRST TIME, I HAD NO IDEA THAT I WOULD END UP IN A SIMILIAR POSITION MYSELF, LITERALLY FIGHTING THE MEDICAL SYSTEM WITH MY DAUGHTER DUE TO THE HOSPITAL HOLDING MY GRANDSON FOR RANSOM BY REFUSING TO RELEASE HIM INTO HIS OWN MOTHER'S CUSTODY UNLESS SHE AGREED TO VACCINATIONS, WHICH SHE HAD PREVIOUSLY REFUSED. THEY REFERRED US TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES, WITH MY DAUGHTER UNDER THREAT OF LOSS OF CUSTODY IF SHE DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE VACCINATIONS, ALTHOUGH VACCINES WERE RECOMMENDED AGAINST BY TWO PREVIOUS DOCTORS DUE TO MY GRANDSON'S HEALTH ISSUES. THOSE VACCINATIONS ENDED UP CAUSING MY GRANDSON TO BECOME AUTISTIC, AND NOW WE ARE FIGHTING TO RESTORE HIS HEALTH THROUGH A SPECIAL GLUTEN FREE CASEIN FREE DIET AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS, WHICH HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO HELP MANY PEOPLE TO REVERSE THE RAVAGES OF AUTISM IN THEIR CHILDREN, ALTHOUGH THE MEDICAL SYSTEM STEADFASTLY DENIES THAT THIS TREATMENT WORKS. The story of our life

This is an amazing portrayal of what it's like to live with seizures, how the medical community at large tends to treat parents, and how frustrating insurance companies can really be. It also shows the emotional turmoil that special needs families deal with daily. If you know someone who has a special child with medical issues and you wonder what it's like, this is a video for you. If you just want to see what difference love and persistence can do in any child's life, then this is your pick. I have Epilepsy and I love this movie alot. :)

I have Epilepsy and I can really relate to this movie and I felt so bad that Robbie the little boy had to go threw all that and that the medication didn't work and that his Mom found another way to make him better without having Brain Surgery and I love that it is a true story I love those kinds of movies and I have watched this alot it is My Most Favorite Movie. :)Read full review...

Everybody needs to see this movie!

This is an amazing movie that is based on a true story. After watching it, look up the fifteen minute interview by the real father and also the speech by his son after he's grown. We should all be asking the question--Why are medical decisions based on how much money will be made by the drug companies and not by what is good for the patient? A persistent mother

The only thing that is sad is that Robbie the little boy has epilepsy. I love this movie because it is about a close family and a mother that will stop at nothing to get help for her son. There were several parts in this movie that Lori played by Meryl streep that she almost got her self in a lot of trouble because she was just so persistant. This movie is close to my heart because my best friend has the same deseas Robbie had The ending was good because Lori found a treatment program for Robbie to go too and it helped him so much.Read full review...

First Do No Harm

Overall I liked the story. Meryl Streep is fabulous. They boy who plays her son with Epilepsy is great. You could see and feel what they were going through. I bought this because my daughter has Epilepsy and I wanted to see how they portrayed what a family goes through when a loved one has Epilepsy. I am glad I bought it, and I have had a number of relatives who have borrowwed it to try to understand what we have gone through.Read full review...

The title is a something the doctors have forgotten.

This movie shows holistic (alternative) medicine is the answer. All of these drugs and medication are not meant to heal - but to make matters worse. More of us are becoming more aware of this fact, slowly but surely.Read full review...
