If you want ONE great Reiki book, this is it.
This book has been my go-to, from Level 1 Reiki through Level 3. There is so much USEFUL information in this book! It is the first one I recommend to students, and it's the one they'll go back to. It explains all.
Others are titled Reiki Bible, but this one IS.

Essential Reiki (The missing manual)

This book was recommended to me by a friend who is a Reiki student. She said it was the only reference she needed when she had a question about Reiki. On her recommendation I purchased it and studied it recently. I have been very impressed with the depth and breadth of the book. The approach of the book is to explain Reiki as a Woman's Mystery, but it still contained the information I was looking for as a male student. I found the book a wonderful reference as it covers in detail all the areas I have previously had difficulty getting answers about. There are some teachers who focus only on the "classic" method as taught by Usui. This book approaches Reiki in a modern way, but explains any differences when covering information that varies from the classic approach. I am very impressed by the book and gave my copy to my disabled father who wants to learn how to do Reiki for himself and others. Wonderful Introduction to Reiki

I bought this book to aid me in deciding whether I wanted to attend classes and receive Reiki attunement or not. This book has helped me decide I am definatly going to go for it. It covers symbols that I am certain had I not had them written somewhere I would have forgotten them even after I am attuned. Diane Stein did seem a bit sexist throughout this book but the information she shares more than makes up for this.

Overall it was a great book and a wonderful introduction to the healing art of Reiki. Anyone interested in Reiki would do well to read this book.Read full review...

I am a Usui Reiki Master Teacher and while I don't particularly Diane Stein's way of writing to my liking, I use this book as a guide for teaching new Reiki students and have for many years.

Great information on Reiki

I love the author's guide through the process of Reiki, and that she includes all the levels, symbols, what you can expect before during and after a session, and different opinions on teaching methods within the Reiki community. I was able to perform a healing session on myself before I got attuned and I instantly felt better (though the healing was more powerful after the attunement). However, Reiki is not associated with any belief system and her constant reference to her own beliefs can be distracting, even for someone with an open mind like myself. Overall I believe this is accurate information if you agree with modern Reiki techniques, as traditional teaching methods are very strict and can be expensive.Read full review...

Essential Reiki by Diane Stein

This is a wonderful book if you're into Reiki. It has wonderful information and easy to understand. This in the 2nd copy of the book that I buy. My original copy was full of notes and highlighted sections and was heartbroken when I thought I lost it. I bought a second copy to be on the safe side and now I have a copy at home and a copy at work.
