Not perfect but an excellent replacement for my old machine.
I was looking for a replacement for my NX400 which died unexpectedly. It was important to me to find an all-in-one which used same print cartridges as NX400 and which had the same user interface (or as nearly so as possible). NX420 does NOT use same print cartridges but does have a user interface which is quite similar to NX400. NX420 is also designed to run as a wireless network printer, a feature I do not use, since my computer does not speak the language. I use the NX420 with a USB connection (an alternative to wireless). The wireless feature and the print cartridges are the primary differences between NX420 and 400. Neither of these machines is in production. I am very satisfied with NX420 performance although I have a minor complaint about user interface (both 420 and 400) in the envelope printing area. That complaint (along with one about the print cartridges) is best addressed to EPSON vs ebay. (Specifically, once you have specified the fonts to be used on the mailing and return addresses, it seems to forget your preferences after the first envelope is printed..then defaults to an undesired font).Read full review...
great value
I gave this all in one printer a high score because it looks good, fits on a nearby desk easily to use wirelessly, setup is breeze and it has a ton of functionality for around $50. What's to complain about? Is it a professional photography quality scanner? No, but what do you expect for $50?? It's a pretty good color scanner for your average homebody, fax capability, printing etc. If the next great toy comes out in 6 mos, I'll sell it to someone like me for $30. What's to lose??

Epson Stylus NX420 All-In-One Inkjet Printer
I've always been impressed with Epson products, and the Epson Stylus NX420 All-In-One Inkjet Printer is proving to be another great product. The Durabrite ink is wonderful for bright, long lasting photos and are very water resistant. I like the individual cartridges but it is a good idea to keep some extra cartridges on hand. The printer is easy to set up and use. The step by step instructions make it easy for a first time user. What I like most about the printer is the weight. The old all-in-one printers were so heavy and large, but the NX420 is small and light weight. This printer is great for someone who must travel or for college dorm rooms where space is a premium. I would suggest keeping the packing and original box to protect any printer for travel or moving. The Epson NX420 is an excellent choice for a photo quality, low cost printer.Read full review...
Happy Campaign Staff
We are using this printer for Campaign Documents for a Local Election. We are able to use the WIFI feature to print from multiple computers. This allows us a great deal of flexibility, and easy access. Signs, Flyers, Press Releases, speeches, and anything we need is all available at one access point. The Scanning and Copy features are getting a good workout also. We hope to exercise the NX420 to its full potential. Judging by its opening day performance, we should have, and expect no problems. Easy to use, easy to upload photos to computer or just to print off.

easy to use and gentle on the pocket with ink replacement.
I love my printer it's great and easy to use, although I had alot of problems with my wireless working but i got a usb cable which I was able to buy on ebay for abt 5 dlls and "it" works perfectly for small task, I mostly use it for my kids homework and other related prints but it's great and fast I definetely recommend this if your no whiz tech and you want a simple reliable easy to use everyday printer . Some good, some bad but nothing ugly
I've been an Epson fan for many years and the NX420 is another reason why. Nice, clear printing, including photos. Very responsive to Wifi and certainly a good looking product (as far as printers can be good looking). Great value for the price. Certainly much better than my Workforce 30 or even my Epson Stylus (which are very good products in their own right). The down side (and what they pretty much keep from you) is that, (so I've been told) their is a "chip" in it that keeps you from being able to buy after-market cartridges. I never have liked businesses that create a monopoly, but it is what it is. Still, the Epson quality is there, so I guess the 150% extra cost for cartridges is worth it. Good printer, but ink cartridge no good
I bought the Epson Stylus NX420 All-In-One Inkjet Printer some weeks ago, is a good printer, fast, i like because the ink come separately.
My only complaint is the ink came with one color (cyan) defective and the first cartridge black empty faster, only with 3 times cleaning head.
