I teach intensive reading in 9 - 12th grade. My students are very reluctant to read. I took a chance with Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They seem to enjoy the short exerpts in the book and the humor.

Great Children's Book

I have a 12 year old son who has been reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid books since before he first movie was ever released. My son also has a mild form of autism and he finds the characters in these novels to be very animated and fun. The main character, Gregory, always seems to find himself in some kind of shenanigan with his best friend, Roderick. I think these stories are great. I wish there were more authors that were writing for little boys of this 12 to 14 mid-age group. My son has already finished reading this novel and started once again on the next one. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid -Rodrick Rules

According to my 10 year old son, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is very good and extremely funny. It is a book that you want to finish without putting it down. These books make you want to read. There is absolutely nothing that I don't like about the books and I highly recommend them to other kids my age and older. I decided to buy the book because my teacher intoduced the books to my fourth grade class and after hearing about them at my school I wanted a copy for my very own. These books are great and that means alot since I attend a private Christian school and the principal and teachers highly recommend these books too. Diary of a Wimpy Kid gets your attention

My grandson loves these books, anything that gets a child reading is great! The interesting references that are applied to the books are wholesome and have value in them. Lets the reader see the difference between right and wrong, and what happens when bad choices are picked. I recommend this books and all the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid book to all the pre-teenagers who like reading funny stories and real life changes that take part in the growing years.Read full review...

Funny, silly book!

Both of our boys (ages 10 and 12)loved this book and couldn't put it down. It is an easy and fast read with cartoon pictures on many of the pages which made the book even more funny. They laughed out loud and wanted to read me sections of it. They read the first book (red cover) and then quickly wanted to purchase this one to read. - It is the second one in the series.
